I just got mine today for a new build and it only comes with 4 standoffs and 4 motherboard screws. I'm not really happy having my board suspended by only 4 screws so this now means I have to go out tomorrow and source some more. Totally ****ed me off tbh. Most full size boards are 7-9 holes, so why only 4 standoffs??

Apart from that it seems like a really nice case.

Strange, they must have just been missing - as pictured they are all in there usually!

OK - update. I've had another look at the case and the top 3 screw holes for the board are on raised 'nipples' if you will. the other 6 holes have small stand offs pre screwed in. However, if you put in 3 standoffs on the raised holes, you still need another 6 to put in to match the same height. Strange design.

How many standoffs came with yours Mish?

Bahhhh - ignore the above. Have just got my steel rule out and the heights match although by eye they look well out.

Last thing - how do you get the front fan cover off?

The front fascia? Just pull it from the bottom of the case and it comes away!

I did the same thing, saw the 3 'nipple' type holes and presumed they needed stand-offs, as it does look like it needs them at first glance, then scratched my head when my board wouldn't slot into the I/O pannel :p

All in all the 500R is a great case, my only issue is my fan controller either doesn't work, or its not effective (can't hear any change in fan speed). It will be redundant by the weekend when my FC5 gets here anyway.

Is it possible to mount a fan where the removed top HDD tray would be? I can't remember if I saw this with the 500R or another case...

I like mine, even though I received mine with broken parts.

(Still not resolved btw).

Good case though, thinking about tinkering with the fans though & sticking in some Akasa Apaches instead of the standard Corsairs.

Does anyone know how you attach 120ml fans to the top tray? I presume the longs screws are for the fans.....but how do you tighten them?

Is that correct then? I just want to make sure before putting the mb in the case. You've had no problems?

That is correct, no issues, top 3 don't have stand offs, bottom 6 do (preinstalled) the provided loose stand-offs I can only presume are for MATX boards.

For the fans in the top I just use the akasa rubber clamp things that came with my vipers

A heads up to 500R owners...

I just changed out all of the fans in my 500R and have reaped a fairly significant cooling improvements. Replaced the front two intake 120mm fans with a pair of AP121's, possibly the best intake fan I have ever used. The side 200mm I swapped out directly for a CM Megaflow and the top 120mm xigmatek fans I had have now been replaced with 2 140mm spectres.

First note, the 140mm screw holes in the top are far too small, I was using the akasa rubber fan holders, I snapped two trying to get them through the hole, is this a design flaw or a manufacturing error? If I wasn't so lazy I would have drilled the holes out a little.

Cooling especially on the GPU side of things is quite impressive, CPU 1 hour prime load temps have dropped from 73c to 67c, GPU gaming load was sat around 81c/78c, its now down to 63c/59c (both temp readings from 5 hours of skyrim). No doubt down to the AP121's and the megaflow delivering so much more cool air than the stock fans.

Love the look of this case. I'd be interested in buying one and replacing the side mesh panel with a perspex window. Nice review also!
