Hi I want to know something I planning on buying a Intel Core i5 2500K I see that it comes with Intel Heat sink and I plan to overclocking it with this motherboard Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard [90-MIBH80-G0EAY0KZ] So I have to ask is this Intel Heat sink any good to cool the cpu or should I go out and buy another cpu cooler?
I have £25 for cpu cooler to spend I want one that’s easy to install so if the Intel Heat sink is no good then what other cpu cooler should I buy?

The stock HS will be ok up to 4GHz, any more and itll just melt into a ball of molten metal at the bottom of your case.

For £25 Id say get a CM hyper 212+ and an additional fan.

What about this
Akasa AK-CC4005SP01 Venom Nano CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM3)
is that any good?

I found the stock cooler on the 2500k to be pretty pants, was Getting load temps in Games on stock clocks and Voltage in the area of 70c.

ok thank you for all the feed back i will go with the Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366).

the 3 recommend coolers ~£25 are:

Gelid Tranquilo

Coolermaster Hyper 212+

Corsair A50

they all give similar results so you can just choose the one thats cheapest of the 3/the one you like the look of best/one that goes better with you case/cooler scheme/etc. they're all good for upto 4.5/4.6ghz, if you want to go 4.8+ you'll be want to go for a more expensive cooler.

Wow 4.6ghz sounds good to me:)

This is a fantastic CPU cooler that won't break the bank!

Cooling a Core i5 2500K CPU on an Asus P8P67 LE motherboard, I managed to overclock to a hefty 4.7GHz!! Idle temperatures are as low as 29C, whilst it never exceeds 78C peak on full load (vcore max ~ 1.4V)!

And the best pro: this cooler is seriously quiet, especially for its performance! No resonant frequencies at any speed, no squeaky noises.

on the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ and he got 4.7ghz I want to know is this true? Will the Gelid Tranquilo be able to get this 4.7ghz?

Well the Gelid is highly recommended on here for all setups within that price region, so im sure it can cool it enough for 4.5ghz (Most i5 setups hit that anyway without much vcore change :))

Same here so over locking was a total no go on the stock cooler. It was in fact the worst stock cooler I've ever used lol.

Lol I still hark back to the days when 50c on Athlons was too hot so panic when I see my 2500k hitting 70c at 3.8ghz on stock intel cooler.

I ran at 4ghz briefly but 80c peak made me sweat.

I do wish Intel to stop selling stock heat sink fan because (it will cost extra ££) on top of the retail box. As many peoples these day never bother to hook up intel stock fan!
