Yeah the defender side always has an unfair advantage generally. This is why I avoid metro now. :(

I went on a 64 map for metro last night, and the defender team (sadly I was on it) was just getting absolutely slaughtered. As in... grenade/rpg spammed as soon as you spawned right near the back of the metro station within 2 minutes of the game starting. Never stood a chance, it was a massacre. lol.

Any high street store where I can pick up a copy of the limited edition? Need it for Friday.

I think someone asked when the LE was being withdrawn from Origin and an EA rep said the 2nd November (I.e. today), so assuming the high street has the same timetable you might be out of luck. You should be able to get it at any of the usual suspects like Game.

when I was first playing BF3 wasn't getting any green flashes

on some maps getting them quite regularly now - seems it could be where there are "sun shafts" - its like a loss of sync on your monitor that type of effect

I managed to fix my broken helicopter joystick binds by deleting the Heli.ConceptRoll entries from the settings file. The game then regenerated them back to defaults when I ran it and they worked. I can now fly choppers and jets. Yay!

anyone else read the HardOCP performance review ?

it seems/implies that 2x/4x FSAA added on top doesn't make much difference

How did you come to that conclusion? Are you referring to setting the FXAA to 'High' or 'Medium' vs. off or are you referring to MSAA (which can be set to 2x or 4x)? If MSAA they clearly state this:

"Antialiasing Deferred : Deferred Anti-aliasing is the traditional MSAA option in Battlefield 3. Options are Off, 2X MSAA, and 4X MSAA. We found MSAA to have a greater-than-expected impact on performance in BF3." They then go on to stress the performance hit that enabling MSAA had and that this was not justified by the difference in quality. They then demonstrate a 21.3% - 34.8% performance hit enabling 2x or 4x MSAA, respectively, on the Radeon 6970. Less significant hit on the GTX 580 but a noteable decrease nonetheless. And they conclude that section by saying "if you just use FXAA instead of MSAA, you won't get a drastic drop in framerates at all, and image quality is around the quality of 4X MSAA with FXAA alone. "

^^ PERFORMANCE not IQ ... quite a difference !

Tried them twice, an 0845 with about five trillion options that dials and then goes dead. Fairly infuriating.

Oh well guess I'll order a physical copy from Zavvi or someone.

The Tesco near work is massive and stocks PC games, if you want me to pick up a copy and post it on?
