ive switched between console gaming, pc gaming, casual laptop gaming quite a bit over the years. i always come crawling back to high end pc gaming in the end though lol... i think im here to stay this time :D

I used to spend a lot on my pc, buying the latest parts and such. Now a days it seems laptops are pretty decent, so I bought a great laptop, runs all the games I want it to....and I can do my work too!

Contemplating getting a PC just for 3D gaming though.

I sold my last Rig because of a lot of problems i had with it, and stuck with my xbox 360 slim for a while, Just until i could save for a decent rig... and here i am..
My last Rig just wouldnt stop messing up. Every week i had something else fail..
I had decent branded parts, XFX Radeon GPU, MSI Mobo, Mushkin RAM, the lot, just kept failing. It got to the point where everything i originally bought had been replaced, not one part in the case was what i originally purchased for the build. So i sold it..

Would never give up on PC gaming, Personally, PC has a lot more to offer than any console. Ive owned every console produced since my Date of Birth, and still love PC gaming best.

Incase you were wondering, my old rig specs were
MSI 870-C45 Mobo
AMD Phenom II 955 CPU (yes, even that failed)
4gb Mushkin Advance RAM
1tb Hitachi Deskstar HDD
XFX Radeon 5870 1gb Graphics card
Antec 750w PSU
etc. All failed within 3 months.... and so did the replacements,

Damn man, that sounds like a lot of bad luck there! Hopefully your next outing will be perfect.

I bought a 360 when they first come out years ago, then last year the wife picked up a Wii and i got a Ps3, but ive allways had a PC for gaming. Mainly just use the consoles for Driving and Sports games, my PC is where its at for FPS / RPG / MMO type games.

Once in a while a real winner pops up on Consoles only (Uncharted Series etc) but ultimately i feel most happy when sat infront of my PC, ive even tried MMO's on Consoles (FF11 on 360) and RPG's (Oblivion on 360) and they just dont feel as good as the PC version, not to mention trying to play an FPS on Console, just dont get the accuracy you can get with a mouse and Kb

As title really, curious to know if some people have just had it one day and sold their gaming pc and never looked back.

Well first of all i think most people probably only have a PC that they can game on. So whilst they may give up gaming I find it unlikely for anyone to just throw the PC away.

I can use laptops but I would always prefer a desktop at home. However no I would never give up gaming I game less than I used to but it's a good way to burn a few hours after work every now and again.

Ive never stopped pc gaming, what I have stopped is pulling my pc apart every 5 minutes and upgrading/overclocking/ messing around with cooling.
When the CPU tech and speeds was racing along in the late 90's early 2000's I was for ever chasing frame rates , adding ram, swapping out HDDs etc etc, that's when console gaming became appealing, one fixed spec, no arseing around to get decent graphics.
But the PC kept coming up with fantastic games that you just can't ignore if you even remotely think of yourself as a gamer, far cry, Crysis, bf2, joint ops , total war, hidden and dangerous, etc etc.
Up until august I haD the same spec pc, bar a graphics card upgrade at the beginning of the year, since 2008.

Wife forced me to sell my PC to make room in the spare for a nursery. So I bought a MSI gaming laptop (B stock) from OC instead!!! Also, had to get rid of the PC, as I needed a laptop for doing Open Uni studying & a bit of Warcraft/Minecraft/Empire Total War/DoWII/Men of War Assault/Age of Empires Online in my couple of hours spare time.

nope, i only use console for exclusives and/or playing online with mates that dont have PC version of games, BF3 for example i have for both PS3 and PC, any other time if i have a choice i'd use the PC everytime, i dont see all these issues people have with PC that makes it so much hassle, they are obviously doing it wrong.

My Xbox (bought end of last year) has seen about 15 hours play time. PC has seen hundreds of hours.

Ditched the following spec in July:

Phenom 955, 8gb, 4870 1GB, SSD, Xonar DG, Dual monitor, G15 kb, G5 mouse.
Dell Inspiron 1545 4GB

Bought an iPad 2 first, then a Mac mini, which started the "getting rid of everything PC/Windows" fad.... lasted until two weeks ago with these two and bought a 27" iMac, getting rid of the Mac mini.

The 360 has seen a bit more use and I haven't missed gaming on the PC at all. 'leccy bills have dropped quite a bit as well!

Just got royally sick of the PC upgrade cycle, after I'd worked out what I'd spent across the years, so went Mac. Might have to boot camp the beast to play BF3 with mate in Fort William (I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne), but even that's not got the pull it had.

just had notification of xbox live sub, mines seen about an hour on halo reach. only bought it because i saw both xbox and ps3 on peturssons desk in a dust514 interview :( it's going sony exclusive.

i'll never go back to consoles, and ps3 can shove it too unless dust514 comes with keyboard + mouse compatibility.

Yeah I sold My PC and now I read the PC Games forum purely on my phone to cure boredom.

No.... why would we all be on this forum if we had?

Stupid question.

Well, theres loads of people on these forums that sold their PCs and got Macs instead :D

HEATHENS!

A while ago I would sometimes consider selling my video card when I really needed money and use my brother's PS3 a bit. But the second I picked up the PS3 pad I immediately thought "nope" and changed my mind. Controllers are just...bad.

Now I would never even think about it. I'm part of a TF2 team, so I'd be screwing 5 other people over if I quit. Plus I couldn't imagine having more fun on a console than TF2 with my team.
