Anyone watch this the other night?? I'm watching now on 4od

Really good I think, good to see the history or it all fantastic!

Watched this last night, everyone seemed to suggest he was a bit of a ******* :p

Yea I think ruthless business man through and through! Didn't know about the close relationship with bill gates! And how much gates had invested at one point!

My only gripe was the editors decided to keep using the iXxxxxxx screen graphic every time the topic changed, thought it was quite annoying.

I quiet liked that! After watching I do now understand the history of apple and the people he ****** off along the way but the rewards that came from it!

Fair play to the hong kong student who designed that logo I figured that was something apple did!

Everyone says this about Jobs, but really he's just the same as ruthless as many other CEO's I feel. Just more noticeable because he's much more public than a lot of others. I reckon that'll be a rough feel I'll get from reading the Biography. He was a bit of a ***** but he changed the world...

Can't change the world without being ruthless ;) fair play I say!

Do wonder how many diehard fanboy's heads exploded when they found out Gates had effectively saved Apple. Probably still in denial actually.

A British designer called Chris Thornley(his is on the right) thought of it first ...

As for the programme I thought it pretty much skimmed over some events e.g. Xerox PARC barely got mentioned(get yourself a copy of Dealers of Lightning if you want to see how Xerox practically invented modern computing). Concerning Jobs ... I think it's widely known what an unpleasant arse he could be. I don't think he was the "genius" some people claim but he was still a huge success at Apple - as a human being perhaps not so much.

From reading the biography, yes, he was quite a big ******* especially early on.

This ^^^

Early on though? I thought ****ing off people at his end was just as bad, not wanting an oxygen mask because it didnt suit him and wanting to see options or sending food back multiple times saying it was ****.

I was left with the impression he was a dictator with a futurist vision, he did help create some amazing things but also went radio rental when other companies did what he did.

Android STEALING from him and the iPhone when he stole everything from Xerox in the beginnings and even saying great artists steal...

I can understand it when he was ill though but not the rest of the time.

As you say he was a dictator and i also feel he was very selfish and also a hypocrite. Then again as much as many many people disliked him he got things done and undoubtedly changed the way we do things with MP3 players, tablets and smartphones.

Watched this last night 4oD catchup on my iPad :)

Very interesting and the Bill Gates investment was a surprise, great Doc though

Yeah I watched it, apparently there is another documentary about Steve Jobs done by the Mythbusters guys too.

Loved the bit where some guy was comparing Jobs and Gates

Reading the biography at the moment and it's a good story about the start of modern personal computers. Steve looked at touchscreens way back around the Apple II! (then shouted at the engineers presenting to get out)

Watched the programme last night on 4od and reading the book at the moment. The book is more in depth and covers a lot but well worth it

A very clever ******* who managed to change the world of technology as we know it.
Still find the hole "get sacked by steve if you cant answer his random apple related question if you're in a lift with him" thing utterly hideous but hey ho... that era is probably over!
