It's estimated that twenty-two billion pounds of taxpayers' money is effectively stolen or lost every year through fraud and error - a sizeable chunk of that is benefit fraud - money that could end up being taken out of the pockets of those in genuine need.

In this Panorama Special, Richard Bilton uses undercover cameras to expose people on benefits sailing yachts and driving Bentleys. And he follows fraud investigators as they tackle the rising tide of benefits cheats using fake identities to steal millions.

I watched this last night and I have to say I can see why people fiddle the system they say only 1 in 30 get court out and when they do they only get a slap on the wrist and a fine.:mad::mad: So it is worth the risk in the UK, SCUM can get free everything they show some people having 2x houses and 2x yachts and all because of the wonderful benefit system.

it's pointless, i've seen the program BBC 1 has on in the mornings.

most of the time i'm sure it costs more money to catch these people than they stole and then the courts give out a pathetic sentence.

It was a complete self righteous bunch of twaddle, I loved they way they kept on describing the knackered old tub held up by bits of wood in the garden as a "substantial craft".

The other yacht he had was worth 60K not bad for someone on benefits. I bet he is laughing all the way to the bank.

The problem with things like this video is it shows the scum and not the people who are genuine and need it. Because of this anyone who is on benefits is labeled as scum.

I couldn't believe how much they were going on about that other guy owning a Bentley, it wasn't exactly a new one was it.

I was waiting for someone to start this thread.

I watched it last night and it was among the worst, poorly made and most boring bits of TV i have seen this year. The only interesting part was the not so Disabled Parking ticket holders being caught then coming out with utter twaddle to try and get out of it..

Watch this at your peril it took them 1 hour to tell you 3 or 4 stories about people that could have been summed up in 10 minutes flat... but dragged on and drawn out.

Shock horror people sublet Council flats....who would have thought it...
Shock horror people use fake IDs to obtain benefits they are not entitled too.,,,

Nothing in this show was actually new. The worst thing is seeing the time it takes to resolve the cases and reclaim the property and stolen money....

I would have liked to have seen a couple of hired BBC thugs just shoe in the guys and tell them to stop their fraudulent claims rather than wasting 1/2 million more tax payers money trawling through the courts to see this happen 6 months down the line.....

waste of time programme annoying editing...

lol :O

OH yeah SEND THEM BACK and REAd the DM and Vote for some Thicko Right wing party Before its too LATE!!!!!!!

You should not have a car at all on benefits let alone a Bentley. Also that guy who rents out his council house made me:mad: Because he is using tax payers money to get the house then getting more money by renting it out while he is sitting in his mansion in the countryside getting free money:mad:

What hacks me off is that the people who genuinely are in need seem to get the most fuss from the system. My boss is a tetraplegic and is constantly being assessed, re-assessed and so-on... when it's quite clear he needs benefits to live off.

It is very much Shock horror when we are talking about twenty two billion pounds of taxpayers money:mad:

Pretty bland attempt at a program by the BBC, everyone knows benefit fraud happens. It's already been documented up the wazoo and we see it on our streets everyday.

This is easy programme making, designed to enrage an incite. Judging by the replies in this thread it's done it's job.
