Hey all, just set of from work when I saw a load of people watching the river that runs through our town. Walked over to see and saw the wall had collapsed :O

Sorry for rubbish picture, took it in a rush. It is defiantly going to go before the end of the day. The rest of the houses will have to be evacuated as well.

We must have had about 2-3 inches in about 20 minutes. At work, we got a call saying water is coming through the roof. We thought it was just a small leak, but no, it was like a pool above the roof had given way.

I will keep everyone updated :)

It was hammering it down here just now, but nothing like that :O

I hope that they manage to get everyone away from it before it goes, there's no need for this to become a tragic loss of life.

Everyone was evacuated. They even evacuated the town bridge which the picture was taken on. Were the wall has collapsed is the end of a row of houses. They are next!

Saw the extreme weather warning on the Met Office site, thought it was odd as here in Plymouth we've had nothing but blue skies all day. I've even just been outside washing the car.

However it seems as soon as you hit Exeter, all hell was breaking loose

I also live in Bridgwater and just read peoples facebook comments and the saw the pics, I'd rather watch the wall collapsing for hours than watch the carnival.

That wall collapsing is possibly the best thing that could happen to Bridgwater... :p

Kidding of course, I used to go to school in Bridgwater as I was born down there but I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened before now with the filthy river Parrett running through the town, the rickety old bridge and old houses.

The pic in the OP is bad but the pic from here shows where the break is, just beyond the bridge.
