Ford Focus Electric now available for Pre Order in the US. Starts @ $40k

Fuel will rise, as will electricity. But... I wonder... perhaps if these were used for commuting say up to 60 miles each way, I wonder if employers would be willing to let their employees use company electricity to charge them up most of the time... probably not, but could be an even better saving if that were the case.

Never mind the fact you will have spent £30K, and this will be about £30K over here even after rebates, on a focus which a £12k 6 month old petrol one would do the same job with substantially fewer maintenance liabilities; and the EV system right through from the gear train, motor, regenerative brakes and batteries is a substantial liability.

Try the list of ICE parts..... EVs are a piece of cake.

Im keen to understand the components that differ between an EV Traction motor and 'regenerative brakes' aswell.

It's not out of the question considering that companies pay less per unit anyway. You could have parking bays with charge points and you beep your work pass on the charge point and that tracks who has used watt (see my pun there?).
