********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

No, No he isn't.

The general feeling about GTA IV certainly amount critics and going by sales suggests the opposite.

Sales and critics are irrelevant. It's GTA therefore it will sell even if it's garbage, just look at the Call Of Duty franchise.

I'm really looking forward to GTA V but it won't be a day 1 purchase for me. If it's anything like GTA IV then i'll pass.

I agree with this, IV for me lost the humour and tried to be too serious. I'm looking forwards to Saint's Row 3 more than this at the moment.

Lost the humour? Really? I mean REALLY?

No it didn't, you missed it. It was much "easier" to spot in the Ballard of Gay Tony, but the humour hasn't changed. GTA IV just wasn't as in your face humour compared to the other games.

GTA games have gotten better with each game.

GTA IV's sales and critics aren't irrelevant as you've just posted a critical ****ing review?

If you don't buy this game, well more fool you to be honest.

How on earth can COD be called garbage?

I don't understand how people can say GTA has lost its' humour, it really hasn't, the jokes just aren't as hugely in your face, in fact they've never really been that way, the humour has mainly been parodies of affairs that were current at the time in which the game was set, or the random banter that pedestrians have.

GTA IV has got masses of humour, just walk down the street and listen to them when they answer and have a lengthy conversation on their cell.

No, YOU'RE WRONG KILLSWITCH.

All humour in GTA must be presented in an in your face Family guy type way for full effect so stupid people can take it in :p

I've listened to more radio in GTA games then I have in real life :D so much funnier.

Same, I even have the soundtracks so I can listen to them in the car, sad. :D

The thing is though I'm all for free speech and the right to an opinion, at the end of the day I'm not the person who came in here and said GTA IS AMAZING AND YOU WILL ALL AGREE OR ELSE. Whereas that other guy is in here just constantly going over the reasons why he thinks GTA IV has failed, like a broken record. If he doesn't enjoy the game then that's his prerogative, if he wants to voice his opinion then that's up to him too, but to keep going on and on and on about it is just making the thread tiresome.

I'm not saying if you don't like GTA then you can **** off, what I'm saying is stop droning on about the same crap over and over because it gets boring. The only thing that's fundamentally changed is the graphics, the PS2 and PSP engines were quite cartoony, maybe the systems were holding them back, the games were MASSIVE for the time, especially San Andreas and fitting all that onto a single DVD must have been a challenge and here we are with the consoles able to display a game as pretty as GTA IV, I have no idea how people can see that as a bad thing.

All games change over time, but to say that GTA IV has completely moved away from everything it was about, well that's a ridiculous thing to suggest, it's still GTA, it's still the same writers, the same people producing and developing, the technology has changed so move with the times or find something else.

GTA has constantly gotten better with each game imho, Given how highly I rate GTA III it's saying something :p

I don't think much has changed other then the visual presentation of the game, which is due to a leap in graphical power. San An really pushed the ps2 to the edge when it came out, it was released towards the end of the life of the ps2.

It's not that I think people shouldn't voice their opinion either, but people are just wrong :p I tend to be on opposite opinions to people all the time but being able to explain and present why I think something is wrong is something I pride myself on, not just repeating the same old phrase like a broken record, I'll hold my hands up too if my argument is defeated.

I do want them on CD, I went through a phase of trying to download them all :p I got the IV special edition thing so have the CD soundtrack to IV :D

GTA on a fundamental level hasn't changed, just the engine changed this time round. I actually think that GTA III and GTA IV have done the games industry massive favours, I think both games were ahead of the curve and are modern masterpieces. (That's not to say that VC / SA and other expansion packs were bad, III and IV just did them first so deserve a bit more credit)

I'm also, down with the opinion that Saints Row isn't a bad game, it's just always felt like GTA's retarded little brother, that tries to hard to be funny in an over the top type way, so if people don't like and appreciate GTA they should play that, as that's probably more suited to their I want to say "level".

I don't think Saints Row is a bad game, it's always just felt too stupid and over the top and that jazz, it's never really been my thing, It could never hold my interest for more then a few minutes. I much prefer the smarter humour in GTA, and the much more edgy and darker story lines and well, better everything, writing, character development, attention to detail et cetra

One of the things that impressed me most about GTA IV when it first came out was if you drive towards someone slowly or stop sharply near them, they'd kind of lose balance and lean on the car with their hands to stay up.

I also, agree with the Saints Row audience comment :p

Heh yep I love the physics in the RAGE engine even though they sometimes go a bit crazy they work really well for the most part. I remember when GTA IV was just about to be released, we had the vids and the screens and I don't think anyone could believe that a game could look like that. Sure they were the PC shots but sitting a few metres back on your sofa you're not going to notice a few jaggies here and there and I still maintain that it looks fantastic, even on consoles. 360 version looked better for me, but the PS3 version was hardly rubbish.

Not that it's all about graphics, I agree there could have been more to do, but you can still do taxi missions, vigilante missions, darts, pool, bowling, street races, package deliveries, browse the in-game Internet, then you've got the car delivery via E-mail as well as the much harder ones via text from Steve, not to mention a very long story and a solid multiplayer.

I think that's a bit harsh on Saints Row. The voice acting is seriously high quality (in fact I'd say it was actually better than GTA's) Johnny Gat is just a great character with some very funny dialogue.
