Sony DA2400ES stereo X2

Hello,

I want my stereo music to be upmixed into stereo x2.

My audio device is HDMI from a GTX570.
It is outputting 5.1 linear PCM 24bit 192khz.
To a Sony DA2400ES av receiver.

I used to let my audigy 2 upmix stereo into stereo x2, and before that my z5500's did that, but I don't have the audigy in any more so need the nvidia card or the decoding device ( the AV receiver) to do this, anyone know how to upmix all stereo ( and mono for that matter!) sources unto stereo x2 automatically, but leave 5.1 discrete, DTS and AC3 sources as they are ? Either on the AV amp or using the nvidia soundcard ?

Switch it to multi stereo mode. It'll still switch to multi channel when given the right source.

I think it is set at that ( Sony A/V receivers have a terrible ui imho), but if I'm correct it is in multi stereo mode.

But the problem is, the PC outputs stereo as a 5.1 signal, I mean, even if I play a stereo source, the pc still outputs 5.1 discrete over PCM, just nothing to the rear and sub channels, just the fronts... I think the A/V receiver doesn't see the audio going to it is only stereo because it is sent over a 5.1 carrier... Either that or it doesn't work.
