The time has come to upgrade from my 8800gt, and this time I have decided to build my very own pc for the first time. Problem is I have no idea what is compatible with what, so I need your help! This is the system I am thinking of getting

I'm going to be using this for gaming mainly, and I already have a mouse, keyboard and monitor. I'm hoping to be able to link my pc and LCD TV too, but I don't know what I would need to do that.

Thanks for the help

It's a shame that hard drive prices have shot up. I managed to get a 2tb drive for £50. Cud have invested ure spare cash into a ssd. Everything looks great... But with the money ure spending you may aswell get a better CPU cooler

looks ok... can you stretch to getting an SSD like the crucial M4 128GB?
You will see a massive benefit for gaming loads/OS load etc.

the motherboard you've chosen is matx, better off going for a atx.

if you can take the 2tb out of the nas(what make/nodel is it?), you could prob go for a 64gb ssd for os and a few programs and use the 2tb for storage and installing other programs(tho if its a 5400rpm could be a bit of slow down in games)

or if you could stretch to 128gb http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-009-CR

Agree with fowler002's recommendations on the PSU and Cooler, they seem better options to me. Save yourself a few quid and go for the OEM version of the 2500k - the only difference is it comes without a cooler, but you have an aftermarket one anyway. As above, an SSD would be recommended if you can squeeze it in, they do give an amazing performance increase. If you do get an SSD, the low speed storage drive would probably be ok. However if you don't get an SSD consider a faster HDD for your main drive. The Caviar Greens are energy efficient models and as such run slower. Get a Caviar Black, or a Samsung F1 1TB if you're not going SSD.

As far as connection your PC to your TV goes, if your card as HDMI output it's just the HDMI cable you'll need. Other cards may have mini HDMI or something similar so you may require an adapter for this. Good luck!

The OEM chip only has a 1 year warranty compared to 3 for the retail version.

£6 for an extra 2 years warranty is worth it in my opinion.

Get a Caviar Black, or a Samsung F1 1TB if you're not going SSD.

The Samsung F3 rules the roost for 1 TB drives.

Remember the good old days when they were £40?

7,200-RPM terabytes from Hitachi, Samsung, Seagate, and WD face off
