So, without reading through 468 pages, is the game worth it for someone who has more or less lost interest in pc games ?

I loved 1942, I liked Vietnam, I loved BF 2, I never got into Bad Company 2/found it boring...

Got the spec to run it max I think, ( GTX 570 & i7 should do fine ?), but I'm worried it's another game I'll throw cash at and never play, tbh, a lot of games I bought in the past year I regret and think ''I could have better spent that money on a night out.''.

I still like shooters like CoD4, but Bad company was crap imho, not because it was a bad game necessarily, but it offered nothing that made me want to play it. Tried it multiple times times and always quit within 15 mins thinking ''meh''.

Does it have the same fun factor as 2 & 1942 ? Does it have singleplayer skirmish like before BC2 ? I usually prefer to play against ai and get used to maps & vehicles before jumping online.

I've not seen any skirmish mode although it could just be hiding, it does not have the fun factor of 2/1942 for me, just feels like a BC3 with a couple of jets per map. Clearly aimed at consoles in many ways.

I inspected trees in kharg island and I was shocked to see them resembling cardboard cut-outs. Many of them were just lifeless with wind having no effect on them.

Then you get big trees with their thick trunks swaying as much as the branches

I think this is because of the fact that spell check won't flag it as an incorrect word in word processed documents (which is how work must be submitted), The marks for spelling and punctuation are around 5% -10% in most cases so misspelling a word shouldn't affect the other 90% of the potential mark.

MS word would flag it as a grammatical error though

Graphical splendour wise BF3 is lovely and i am really am enjoying it.

Netcode is horrible, still being killed even a good second after being behind cover, yesterday I had just got in a tank and died form a sniper shot, says it all.

The maps are linear and clustered compared to previous battlefields making the game get old and boring rather quickly, 5 flags crammed in the middle of a map is not battlefield especially on so called air maps. Gameplay is dumbed down to keep the meat grinder fans happy, COD players I'm LOOKING AT YOU.

BF3 is a bit of a meat grinder type game, those after tactical and somewhat in-depth gameplay will be badly disappointed especially BF2/2142 fans as the squad leader advanced commands are not in and squad management is an absolute joke. The lack of a functioning commo-rose, a decent mini map and in game VOIP makes getting team play going on pub servers rather difficult. All these things were perfectly implemented in BF2/2142 so why are they not in PC BF3?

Where is spectator mode, it's good to learn how others play and it can help determine if someone is cheating.

I'm basically grinding out hours to try out the unlocks. I'm bored of the game already mainly because of the awful map design and poor vehicle/aircraft combat, I've seen it all in terms of the maps it's basically running around in small circles capping flags, herp derp.


Now It's not all doom and gloom as I must say the back to karkand trailer looked impressive and they have actually burst the 5 flag limit on BF3 maps, so up to 7 flags on B2K maps.

i believe it is a server option that added in a patch a few days ago so the config for needs to be changed to include it if it's wanted.

although i have a feeling some have it disabled to improve stability.

Oh please it's not a classic and Never will be, it's so full of bugs you could start a farm (get it) it doesn't even know what type of game it wants to be either....graphically its nice but how much if that is bc your blind by the sun most of the time - just look at firestorm and all the black crap on the ground when in a jet ,that's not graphically nice at all and so low res it's laughable.

Bf3 is all about the spam -rockets,mortors,nades that's what most of the maps boil down to

I actually like BF3. I've only played a few mins on it and not really had the time to play more indepth, but I like what I've seen so far.

I do agree that it feels more COD-like nowadays, with the meatgrinder effect in certain areas.

On another note, the whole their/there/they're and university thesis posts shocked me - I don't believe it, I think that poster was billy ************. If that IS true, it reaffirms my belief that the majority of university students aren't fit to be at university if funidmental basics (being able to write Engerlish proper like) are being dumbed down for the retards, and a lot of uni courses aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Everytime i launch BF 3 after i boot up my PC i get the " stopped working " nonsense. Are EA / Dice aware of this issue?? Win 7 ultimate 64 bit i use. It only happens the 1st time until i reboot ro start again the following day.

Impressed by the graphics here, but I find the SP almost boring and having difficulty "getting into it" as it were, and I'm fed up with either being blinded due to sun flare or grovelling around in the dark. I've done the SP twice now and I've no urge to play it again. My son has done the MP a good few times and when asked how it is I get the reply, "oh, its alright I suppose but I don't feel the urge to play it anymore"
Kinda says it all really for me at any rate. Don't get me wrong, its a fair game but just not for me.
Now waiting for MW3, at least theres characters in the SP that kinda make the story interesting I reckon.

Id agree with that to. Me and a few friends alao talked about it being a meat grinder. Gets to the point where a bunch of squads build up on 1 area vs other squads to take objectives and all use noob tube wepons and smaw etc.
The aircraft controls are crap to for my likeing. Also yeserdayed i hit a tank with my plane. full on contact tank blew up and i managed to fly on lol.
