I have been saying this to myself for ages now!!

But im in a position where i can afford it now, if i don't buy a new car :p

I want to do the max time in oz without using my working visa ;) where is best to start and where should i head? what should i do while there?

im completely blind to this, but would want to go December sometime for 2 months :) or December and take on singapore before oz and then do 3 months! maybe Thailand to

to be honest, australia is kind or rubbish and there is no point travelling around it because it is all the same.

Go for it! You'll have amazing memories to reflect back on in the future :)

New Zealand is amazing, so I'd recommend going there for sure. My wife lived in Australia for a number of years and has nothing but praise for the place, so I'd suggest you look at visiting there as well.

You have a job that lets you walk out for for 3 months? and they don't give your job away?

JEALOUS!

When I spent 4 months in Oz most of the time I was getting drunk with the other hosteliers. I did go to Fraser Island which was amazing, the Whitsundays trip got blown out (literally) by a hurricane. Sydney is nice, Melbourne is better, Brisbane is tiny, Byron Bay was great fun, Cairns was ok but only spent 2 days there.

West Coast is where it's at for real natural beauty/travelling. East Coast is just one long **** up really.

I travelled the full 19 months alone, you always meet people along the way, specially in Asia.

i guess you just generally start talking to people! see how you get on?

is there any type of Open ticket where you can almost go where you want when you want within a 3month time?

I hear only lovely things about Australia and NZ and Thailand and Singapore!! I would definitely say go for a bit in Asia first, then move down to Oz and NZ! The only thing that stops me going to Oz is the spiders

Lots of employers now a days allow you to take "lifestyle breaks". I can take up to six months off if I desired.

just been speaking to a mate who says book a one way ticket and go with the flow!! its a daunting idea!

Go for it - I'm sure in years to come you'll look back with fond memories of your time spent travelling :D

Absolutely rubbish.

It is however seriously expensive - assuming this is your £3k car budget Stinky you'll spend on this, £3k isn't going to get flights into Australia and 2 months travelling around it. It'll cost more than that.

I have been reading these forums for many many years and the quote above is by far the most incorrect statement that I have ever read. I went travelling on my own and started off in Australia and had a brilliant time. Cant reccomend it enough :)

Your mate is clueless then - as they won't let you in with a one way ticket unless you also have proof of a certain amount of money.

You'll also further increase the cost of your trip this way as two single tickets cost more than a discounted return.
