Seriously - how on Earth do you guys play soft core? It's atrocious! Long range gunplay is basically impossible unless you're a sniper.

Scenario: I was lying on the roof of the gas station on Caspian Border looking towards the forest. Saw some enemy troops. Brought the ACOG up, single shot. Fired at the first guy running in the open. Hit! Saw the hit marker, and he flinched. Fired another round. Another hit! No kill? Another round. Hit, but no kill.

I put about 4 well aimed shots into him with no kill. Then, one of my other team mates finished him off. "Kill assist".

A similar scenario happened several times. Fired at people over medium to long distances, got hits, but no kills. Either someone else got the kill after I'd done most of the damage, or they scuttled into cover unharmed. Utterly frustrating. The only kills I got was where I engaged people at short range and just opened up full auto into them.

I appreciate that getting kills isn't the be all and end all of winning the game, but it's so annoying putting several rounds into someone and still not getting a kill - only to have them retreat to cover, now fully aware of your position.

Do any OCUKers here play Hardcore?

HC mode sucks. What is the points of different weapons and stats if everything is the same. I've seen videos of people with the M60 on HC mode just holding down the trigger and walking and getting monster kills.

Also, what's wrong with someone using a powerful machine gun, putting sustained fire down range and killing people? Surely it's better than softcore where they will just run off as if nothing had happened? :p

Probably get lost in the endless replies to the thread but where's the cheapest place to get hold of this now? Worth buying just the code and download or something like that? Would prefer a physical product but I'm not completely fussed in all honesty.

Also, how is the learning curve shaping up now everyone is levelling up a bit. It was a *right* bitch on BC2 :p
 
Just discovered the joys of 64 player maps when you love to snipe :)

Out of interest, do we reckon it's actually possible to beat the world record for sniper distance in BF3? (would have to be a headshot otherwise it wouldn't record)... Or are the maps too small?!

The current record is held by United Kingdom's Corporal of Horse (CoH) Craig Harrison, who in November of 2009 recorded a 2,475 m (2,707 yd) shot in the War in Afghanistan.

Nope... from afew detailed analyzes on the BF3 forums, the max range on the M98b is 975m, anything further even a metre, and the bullet disapears.

The longest I've seen in BF3 was nearly 1000m, that was from one end of Caspian Border to the other. I don't think anything over 1400m is possible.
 
Lol just noticed that B2K pack is being sold for £11.99 on Origin while the game itself is still at £39.99 :p

So that's almost £52 on Origin!! :eek:

What a rip off!!

So I guess the limited edition promotion has finished then?
 
Incase anyone is looking for this game a seller on a well known auction site is selling BF3 keys for £20! I bought one a few hours ago and got the code within 30 mins of purchasing, activated on Origin and I'm currently downloading the English version! Seems to be going well so far, and it has also come up as the limited edition aswell! :D
 
Just played a round as Recon on a 32 man Rush on Caspian. I feel like an excited five year old.

"Look, there's a tank! And there's another one! Oooh, look, a machinegunner! And a sniper! AND A JETPLANE!!1!" :D
