What is the general concencus on Accord Type R's round here?

I've got a real soft spot for them but Im not sure, I know they have the synchro mesh issue with 5th and reverse but as long as its been rebuilt should be fine.

Any other ideas about them or suggestions for the same money

Had a Pirates black accord type R a few years back, Car was fantastic! loved it and gutted i sold it, shame it cost so much to run :(.
Really made me appreciate the joys of vtec though :)

I currently own one. It has 139k miles on the clock but because its been so well looked after it drives like new. About a year and a bit ago it was dyno'd and still had over 200bhp (of its 209bhp) and torque was still 160. I have done a few long trips in it (3+ hours) and got out not feeling at all tired. I have no issues with 5th or reverse either. So yea, if you get a good one, go for it!

Great cars, but the cabin isn't as nice as the newer models.

I havent sat in the newer models but I dont actually find it that bad. My car history has a Celica GT and a Primera GT. The Celica's cabin was small and not very comfortable. The Primera was extremely comfortable but lacked in any sort of design. The Accord seems to match its exterier appearance very well and the Recaro seats are so frigging nice to sit in.

One thing I will mention that I forgot to before was that the speakers are shockling bad. I have replaced the rears with better ones and I plan to replace the fronts too. I have only replaced them with the same size speakers, so no damage to the car and its made a great difference.

SLAMMED AND WIDE ARCHES :)

Loved the old ATR. Bit of a pain in the arse to keep in VTEC when changing gears compared to other Type-R's, about the only day-to-day complaint I could find with the car, considering it's price/performance.

Oh it isn't bad, just a little small for me at 6'6" whereas the newer model was more spacious.

Its not the cars fault your so tall :p

I agree with the VTEC comment though, 1st to 2nd is very difficult to remain in the VTEC, 2nd to 3rd is easier and the rest is just cake really. Such a fun car though.

Bit of a thread hijack here, but anyone remember or know the front speaker sizes of the ATR? I really cant be bothered to take the doors apart in the dark lol!

16.5 cm I believe Smeaney .

I have had 5 inc my current one , Join the owners club and someone will take you for a ride .

Syncro causes problems on the post facelift as well ;)
