My girlfriend and I: stopped work for life on benefits

How is that even a fair comparison? If the OP is genuinely entitled to the benefits - how is he stealing?

As others have said, fix the flawed system - don't go after the people that claim because the system allows them to.

No hes not. The system doesn't say "If you would be better off sacking in your job and turning to benefits then do it." Its there to help those that cannot work or are looking for work. If you quit your job to go on JSA then you are fiddling the system and you should not be entitled to a penny. You can't claim JSA whenever you don't like a job or feel that you would be better off unemployed.

Go to a job centre and tell them that you would like to sign on because you just quit your job and would be better off without it and see what they say.

Yeah you don't get a penny if you quit, luckily when i had to leave there were redundancies going around and my friend was one who was up for it. (he only been there for 1 year i had been there 5) i put in a quiet word with him and saved his job, he's still there now :)

My friend has his wife worked out they would be better off is she didn't go back to work after giving birth to their second child as the benefits were more than her part time wage.

Crazy crazy world when that is the case.

im not disagreeing with you about being morally wrong. i also agree that people like this are blood sucking scummers that are the lowest of society

im just saying that to stop it , its the system that needs to change

if you basically hand out free money, you cant blame people for taking it

Of course you can. If I found a way to murder you without any chance of being convicted, would that be ok. I mean you can't blame me for killing you if I have found a way to do it within the law.

The world would be a much better place if people had some modicum of pride and honesty rather than trying to justify their ***** deeds and behaviour with weak arguments like "everyone else is doing it", "its not illegal" and "I can't do anything else". There is pretty much always a choice, its just depends on whether you are a decent person or not.

but take into account she will still get benefits on top of her wage, if she's part time she will get child tax credits and working tax credits along with Child benefit + her weekly wage.

She will be better of working with 2 children

At least you are using the system correctly ... thats what its there for ..... at least you are not sending the benefit money back to your family in India and also working on the sly .... thats what most of the people do claiming benefits!

Oh btw - The system is ****

I'd hazard a guess 99% of people claiming "benefits" are British born and speak English as their first language (or some derivation of it). Let's not turn this into some kind of pro-BNP, sod-the-stats type rant.

Fair point, I agree with you there.

hardly the same thing. murder is illegal, being on the dole isnt.

if you make it so that you can earn more by not working, then you can blame people for choosing not to work (im not saying it right)

you have the change the system, not the people that are in that system

sometimes i wish we could just abolish the welfare state because of the fact its getting abused like this. it sickens me to the stomach and gets my blood boiling!

The abuse of it irritates me just as much as it does you, but I still take comfort in the fact we have a safety net in place for us all, should we need it.

How much does your friend earn? I dont earn a huge amount, but if my wife stopped working we would get absolutely no benefits bar child benefit and the odd tax credit here and there - roughly about £50 a month if that.

Lack of accountability and consequence is one of the things that got us in to this mess, constantly reworking the system means that opportunists will still be opportunists.

So whilst the system is crud, that doesn't absolve people of being ****s and abusing it.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Please list the exact benefits you will be getting (with 2 kids) which add up-to £450 a week.

I'd guess you are either,

A = Troll.

Or

B = Somebody who reads the daily mail, attempting to enrage people with made up stories about "benefit scroungers".

You disgust me.

Maybe if you worked more than 18 hours a week you'd earn more money.

Plus if you quite your job it takes time (6 to 8 weeks I believe) before you qualify for benefits.

This is not a long or even short term solution. People on benefits are expected to get jobs and go for interviews.

Think about how its going to look when you have to eventually get a job and they ask you why you have been unemployed

Benefits are designed for people in genuine trouble not for people to scam because they cannot be bothered to work.
