What is the best motherboard for under 500 pounds ?

requirements and compatibility.

Socket 1155

graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6990

Processor: Intel i7 sandybridge

My attitude is no expense spared if it is of quality and is the best motherboard on the market and the bleeding edge of the current tech.

I am buying the pc around January to march , January ideally.

I know some of you might tell me to wait until then to decide but humor me and tell me what you would recommend right now and what will be coming around January to march I am willing to wait for better tech.

Thanks for your time sir's and mams

What does no efi Bios mean ?Is this Bad ?

The Gigabyte does have a Hybrid EFI, I think he meant a non UEFI style BIOS, meaning it doesnt look as fancy.

But the Gigabyte still has all the options etc you would expect in the older style layout.

How often do you look at your BIOS?

Rarely, My PC is 5 to 6 years old now, I plan to over clock with my new machine when its needed which wont be for a while as I still need to put her together and then when she is put together she should be fine for a while I reckon, before part replacements, probably a few years, I want to make sure I have the best bleeding edge future proof parts in her though.

£500? lol..honestly.

hehe unless you are going to use all the features spending over £150 on a mobo is a waste of money....i go for MATX boards, i only use one GPU, 8Gb RAM and to be honest most can overclock.
unless you are going with 3 GPUs, want to watercool the board or have more money than sense the money could be spent for a greater gain elsewhere.

edit ...just read you will have one graphics card are you planning on going crossfire at any point?

Yes I plan to cross fire and I want one of the best motherboards so I have all sorts of options opened to me.
It is not that I am made of money or am rich , I am just very patient about saving money and think the wait is worth it.

With motherboards going out of date so fast spending that much seems a bit ill advised (unless there's some must have feature you can't otherwise get).

With £500 you could buy a decent motherboard now and still have enough left to buy its replacement in 6/12/18 months.

Your money, your choice.

UEFI also boots a bit faster too

You jest, surely. My Maximus IV Gene-Z has UEFI BIOS, and when I turn it on it's 10 seconds before ANYTHING is shown on screen. Add to that the time to post, even at 4.6GHz, and when I install 2 * Vertex 3 in RAID 0 as my boot device this week, it's going to take longer to reach the start of Windows loading than to actually load Windows!
