a genuinely useful thread idea, ruined by pointless replies.
here's a tip
go to wherever you have BF3 Installed
mine is: D:\Origin\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 for example
then select the 'bf3.exe'
right click on the exe and go to the compatibility tab
then tick the box that says
"Disable Desktop Composition"
press apply
this will disable windows aero when you open the game and frees up vram
I game at 2560X1600 on 480SLI and sat at 1500MB Vram usage all the time
doing this trick frees up 3-400 mb vram meaning the computer is not bottlenecked
maxxed out, BF3 runs at 1200MB vram usage at the very most.
hope that helps some of you![]()

Does having a second monitor take up much vram?
1. Get IRNV
2. Use IRNV
3. ???
4. Profit
1) Click start button
2) click control panel
3) click programs and features
4) Right click Battlefield 3
5) Uninstall
Make a text file in the root BF3 folder called "user.cfg" and inside type the following two lines;
RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
RenderDevice.TrippleBufferingEnable 0
Save, close, and play helps with any stuttering.. Though I didn't notice it myself
