I'm only running at 4GHz and stock Volts, is it normal for it to reach 60C while I'm stress-testing with Prime? Seems high, I thought these were meant to run cool!:eek:

Sorry if this is a noobish question, just thought better safe than sorry...

2500k at 4.6 (bios set to 1.33v, PPl at 1.7250)
True with very silent 120m and my prime temps on blend is about 67+
IBT max ram can run into the 78's+

Been running like this since sandy bridge release

Kamz

Yeh with intel burn test you can probably add an extra 5-10C above what prime95 stresses.

Is there much difference benchmark/game wise between 4.5 and 4.6?

good temps. Im running mine at 4.2ghz, hitting about 60*c on prime with my cheapo watercooler.

Using X3 Terran Conflict Benchmark, per 100MHz around 2.3fps more on average thats going up to 5.1GHz.

But that's because X3 is a single-core game (if I remember correctly), so the chances are the graphic card is getting bottlenecked...and with CPU clocked higher, it will be able to reduce the amount of bottleneck, thus delivering higher frame rate. It's probably the same for WOW as well, considering it is pretty much a single-core game as well.

Yeah just single core, doesn't really matter what graphics card you use with this benchmark single card or SLI / Crossfire.

Wow! My C2D was in the 40s even when overclocked, I know this has more than twice the transistor count but i guess I thought that being a 32nm chip would make up for it! :p

Same cooler?

If so I suspect your C2D was telling porkies - my E4300 hit 80 degrees at 3 GHz, my i5 is hitting ~75 at 4.5.

To be fair the E4xxx series was hot running, have many E4500 at work and most load at around 75C+ prime easily with stock cooler.

Yep, same cooler. The hottest it ever got was 55, and that was when the TRUE was clogged with dust. After a good seeing to it dropped to 48-49ish again. Bizarre, maybe Orthos wasn't stressing it properly? It did show me 100% usage though!

Orthos gives me the highest load temps I can muster... Others say Intel Burn Test pushes harder, but for some reason it's a good 5 degrees less on mine :S

I bought a Hyper 212 plus and I'm worried my temps are too high. MY i5 2500k is OC to 4.2 and after running prime95 for 30mins, my temps using Hardware monitor are:

My stock cooler went up to 83, So I bought the Hyper 212 plus.

Prime95
Hyper 212 plus.
core 0 67, core 1 73, core 2 71, core 3 70, package 76,
Voltage 1.272,
Fan Speed 1900rpm.

I Played Arma 2 for 30 mins and load temp was 69oc Is this ok? Idle temps are not really that great either: Well I thought they would be better especially after reading reviews on Newegg and people claiming theirs went as low as 29.

core 0 37, core1 38, core 2 39, core3 39, package 40.

I have a Antec nine hundred gaming case and also have a 120mm fan on the side which I had to remove, as the heat sink gets in the way. Would it be ok to turn the heat sink sideways? Would adding a second fan make any difference?.

Thanks!
