Hey guys , my mother needs a new PC , she wants it for her normal everyday things but also able to run games such as arkham city and bf3 for my son.

I want to give me *cough* her an i5 2500k cpu in it as i love the current intel cpus , but that aside , can a decent gaming pc be built on that budget ?

Doesn't need monitor, keyboard etc , just case and everything that goes in the case thanks.

Ideally wanting i5 / 4gb memory and a reasonable gfx card for modern titles.

Wont be needing SLI .

300gb hdd or there abouts will be ample.

Needs WIN 7 , i assume home premium .

Thanks for any help chaps.

if you can scavange an old sata hard disk from somewhere due to the current crazy prices it would help.

but generally in your price range(prob over budget)

i2500k £180(keep an eye out ocuk tend to lower it to £170 every few weeks)

gigabyte z68ap-d3 £82

4gb pc3-12800 1600mhz £20-£30

lepa w series 500w psu £47

dvdrw £15-£20(would help if you have an old sata one from somewhere)

win 7 home premium oem £75-£80

case personal but £30-£50 antec 100/300, bitfenix merc/outlaw/shinobi are popular

hard disk samsung spinpoint f3 160gb £60, 250gb £65, 320gb £74 as I said try finding an old data one from somewhere

gpu sapphire 6870 £143

CPU cooler gelid tranquilo £26 tho you could get this at a later date

Which leaves £70 for a harddrive and case (google shopping search)..:

WD Caviar Blue 320 GB Internal hard drive: £30...

and then you have £40 for a case of your choice.

You get the i5 2500k you want, 4gb of decent memory and the Radeon 6870 graphics card, along with a hard drive around the size you asked for and 40 left over for a case.

Does not include the price for Windows 7, but you know...

the gigabyte z68ap-d3 is £82 which is £13 cheaper than the msi, while the cashback will bring the prices about equal. so its down to which is the better motherboard.

the price of the ram is only till tomorrow morning.

Thanks , also thats a good thought , i didn't even consider forum posts for free shipping !
Ive never been one to post loads on forums.
