I think you lot should just have spawn as a central hub on the map with which to get to every other place on the map, nothing more complicated than that. Community spawns never work :p Look at the last one - it just became a baron collection of building that nobody ever used.
 
I think the spawn should contain:
  1. Farm - Melon and Wheat
  2. Tree farm for wood
  3. Swap signs for trade
  4. Large deposits of cobble to get newbies started
  5. Clear and precise roads and signs going N,S,E and W describing exactly who and what is in that direction
  6. A nether portal
  7. A transport system

Besides that it should be a small spawn (like the 1.8 map) with open areas around so if other people are in the spawn then they are visible.

Some more ideas
  • Community night where we ALL work on a SINGLE community build (say Friday or Sunday night)
  • Party night where we get prizes for best weeks build, best skin and other awards for being the most helpful etc

Don't you think the spawn point should be the jewel of our server, with all builds around the spawn area being our BEST creations.
Could we not make a vote (once a month) and have the best builds moved to lots around the spawn area or at least on a reserved area on the map where outstanding builds are moved to!

WhAt happened to the server?
Well destroyed my two properties.

If anyone wants the stone left at the castle help yourself, it's only cobble left.

Agree and in one massive building and more signage and transport needed.

He-He, just preparing for the map refresh. There was some alterations I wanted to make so thought I would start again when it updates.

is there any chance of changing the @acid bit on the link tart forum?

I'll see if I can change it in the db tomorrow. It might be a bit annoying to do though, so no promises :)
 
I'm afraid that we couldn't use it as it would require everyone on the server to manually install the mod before connecting (assuming it even works in multiplayer at all).

In terms of mods, the *only* place I'd recommend checking out is bukkit.org. Check out the Spoutcraft mods on there in particular, as that is the most likely thing to provide anything with remotely similar functionality.
