Thanks setter for the MSAA disable advice I was getting 43-60fps with it on during a heated battle Caspian. With it off 55-75 sometimes more :)
 
I tried homeplugs as well. Unfortunately they wouldnt work in my house, possibly due to new wiring in a recent extension to the house. Managed to "source" a roll of cat 5e cable at work, got a mate who's a spark to rig me up a decent length cable during lunch break.

No probs,:) really helped in my case as well. 2x MSAA was hitting fps pretty hard on high settings, now running on ultra with high post, 16xaf, blur and hbao off, 85 fov. Getting 60-130 fps, averaging in the high 80's.
 
Good article that, tbh ive never noticed much difference with it on, so i just leave it off for the extra frames. I also turn blur off, due to it making me feel a bit iffy. First noticed this with crysis 1 so any game that has it i leave it off.

Me. Although in saying that my PC is on one side of the wall and the router is on the other. I did think about homeplugs or putting a small hole through the wall for ethernet but the wireless was already installed and I've never had problems with it.

I think you would be ok to run with SSAO possibly only losing about 5fps, it's HBAO that's the killer.

Is there a grinding out start to this game to get used to it or to get good weapons?

Is it just as silly and crazy random as BF2?

Are people still jerks?
 
Is there actually a guide comparing all of the video settings not based on the beta? I remember finding one for BF2 years ago. It helped to fine tune without changing settings and loading up repeatedly.
 
the best example iv found for hbao etc is on caspian etc if you look at the grass and trees and leaves and tree trunks and shadows its got much more depth and realism, and iv noticed on friends pc who has 1 new gpu wich has same fps as my 4870x2 hbao kills him more than it does me with 2 gpus even though his is a 6000 series, and without hbao fps is identical, identical res and settings. but hbao on for me doesnt hit me half as hard as it does him :)
 
Does this tweet from a developer at Dice mean that we aren't getting a like-for-like version of Karkand??

Depending on which version you were on (16, 32 or 64 player), the original Karkand had either 3, 6 or 8 flags.

There was no version of Karkand that had 5 flags.

Are we getting a 5-flag version because that is maximum for any BF3 map??

What's the best way to fly, is it keyboard + mouse or Joystick or gamepad? Finding flying a jet with k+m very very hard, still on zero points. I've watched some of the tutorials but they seem to be using gamepads?
