Zalman VF3000-F

The Zalman, like most aftermarket coolers, are 3 slots wide. Your motherboard only allows 2 slots for the first card though.

Scythe Setsugen 2 for top card. Zalman for bottom card perhaps?

Is that cooler any good? I have OC in mind also.

It'll be better than a stock cooler but not as good as a three/four slot cooler simply because they restrict the size of the heatsink and fan to squeeze it into the two slot footprint.

I've never used one but a couple of people have used them on here for Crossfire/SLI configurations but on lesser heat outputting cards.

You may need to have it running pretty fast to keep the 470 cool enough.

My advice would be to do some research into the solution and it's ability to cool a overclocked GTX470. If that turns out bad then you can either go aftermarket with just the one card or change you motherboard to one that has different card spacing, or maybe even look at a flexible pci-e riser cable to let you move the bottom card down a slot or two.

Prolimatech produce a cooler known as the mk13, theese can be used in sli but the fan mounting is a bit bulky.

Info is a bit sketchy on it from what ive seen. This is how it mounts the fans.

Running sli 470's here, bit frustrating that there are so few coolers that can be used with sli. I have pretty good slot spacing but still doesnt help with aftermarket coolers.

Looks like the Prolimatech MK-13 is near to 3 slots as the heatsink mass sits above the GPU die and contact block.

So even if you have the fans mounted vertically as in Setter's image you'd not have anough space.

Yep, seems like its another slot blocker. Ideally you need a board like the asus r2/3e with the wider x16 slots. Ive had to resort to ghetto mod fans or a spotcool, with a custom fan profile the cards hit 70c in bf3, oc'd at 750mhz. Thankfully i game with noise cancelling headphones on.
