Well 2 things. I bought MW3 and it's awful..

But I digress..

I bought the Asus Crosshair V thinking, well believing AMD's hype, that Bulldozer was on target to sit between the 2500 and 2600.

So what do I do? I have a Phenom II 965 BE and I feel like it is now the bottleneck in the system. It is overclocked as far as it can go for day to day use.

Options:

a) Buy 8150 and have faith in the scheduler changes
b) Buy a P2 1090/1100 and wait for future AM3+ CPUs and hope they are good
c) Cut my losses, buy a new mobo/CPU (2700?) and sell the Crosshair V

I also have the "Mrs" factor, she will not be impressed with option C.

My missus wasn't and still isn't impressed I sold my 1090T + CHIV for £200 to get a £400 2700k + m/brd mate! lol

Now the thing to think about is do you really need all that horsepower? - If all your doing is BF3 - stick with a 1100T for now (it uses 6 cores quite well) and if you must upgrade then upgrade your graphics.

however - if you play other games (that require single threaded powar!) then your only option is B.

GL mate - tbh I'm wishing I stuck with my 1090T now after all the expense and headache of trying to stabilise 5Ghz lol
oh and I feel so dirty for going to the dark side :(

cut your losses on the mobo - that will be the least heartache

if the mrs gives you problems, cut her loose too :p

NOT (a) - BD is around the same performance as the Ph.II so you're better off getting a 1090T/1100T than one of those.

If you feel you can stomach it mind, the best bet is to just sell up and get back on the Intel path.

if you must upgrade then upgrade your graphics.

have you even looked at his sig? 2x 6950(unlocked so 6970 effectively), the only way to upgrade from that would be a 2/3x580, 2x6990/590 or if the motherboard can handle it a 6990 to go with the 2x 6950s 3rd 6950 would also be an option.

Keep what you have til Ivy bridge or something. Yes, the P2 is the bottleneck in your system but you're not going to notice much of a difference between your 4GHz P2 and a 4.5GHz 2500K or similar

I'm going to hold on for IB but secretly pray that the next AM3+ processor is special.

In the mean time I'm going to do a Llano build for my little boy, he loves the Lego games and I think the Llano GPU will handle those fine.

You could always get an i5 2500k and a mb, it's meant to OC very very well .PS don't worry to much about doing daft things, they make life more interesting;)
