Hey all!
Just thought I would share my birthday build with you all, yep I'm 34 today yippeeeee!
List of componants:
gigabyte z68xp-ud3p
intel core i5-2500k 3.30ghz
asus axe square limited edition gold cpu cooler
OCZ Z Series 850W Power Supply Bought from overclockers but no longer sold, shame because it's pukker at under £100
G.Skill RipJawsX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz
An old 8800gt while I wait for excellent gpx card deals/next gen.
A mixture of cheapo coolermaster fan for over the hard drives (they got great mmh20 for such things) A couple of bitfenix fans for exhausts and a lovely BeQuiet SilentWing USC 120mm Fan for the unobstructed front middle fan for a main intake. I'll be bying 2 more of those for the exaust now I know they are so good and putting the lackluster bitfenix fans in the last bottom fan space and the last top fan space.
x2 old Barracuda 7200.10 250GB Hard drives and a PM800 samsung 128GB SSD drive that I had kicking around, a 64GB partition is being used as cache for the HDD's and the rest is my OS partition with key apps and fave games on. [EDIT] I thought I had it sorted using the SSD as the boot drive and a cache at the same time, but I dont
, so close tho, anyway after a OS reinstall Im using the whole of the SSD as a boot/data drive.
All whacked into a BitFenix Shinobi Gaming Case
SO! At first I had a stock mix up meaning none existant delivery
but hey the customer service here is great (5UB is the man) so all was sorted out very quickly!
On with the photos!
This is what she looks like before the cooler and gpx card, ignore the fan layout here, I was having a blond moment and hastily rectifyed positions.
A shot of the rear cabling. Thumbs up to the bitfenix case here, it's proper excellent at hiding cables.
A shot of the insides after everything had been installed, note the propper fan positions!
The obligitory 'in the dark' lightshow shot. Pretty pleased with the lens flare there
And the whole thing set up and on the desk. Guess who needs an XXXXXL Boogie bug mat
Overclocking the rig has gone so super well, I swear I have a special chip because its running 4.6GHZ @ 1.275 vcore, intel burn stable at 20 runs with max temps reaching 73c!
The highest I managed to clock it at max safe vcore of 1.38 is at 4.9GHZ but my cooling is not anywhere near good enough to start seeing how stable it is
am glad to know it will go that high should I get some water cooling!
So yeah, there we go! Happy birthday me and job well done, special thanks to Ocuk for fab service and great prices, woo hooo!
