Does anyone know where to buy a desk that is over 160mm width? Ideally 180mm. Need a wider desk for my speakers (bored of the close stereo field) and single user sized desks are for boring people.

ebay / bigonlinebookshop / ikea

just ordered a new one myself... found a bigonlinebookshop marketplace seller selling one that looked good... ended up finding the same desk £20 cheaper on ebay from the same guys so ordered on there... it's a corner desk though 1.75x1.75m with 65cm depth, walnut top for £135 delivered :)

Tried ebay and ikea they only do upto 155.

Phate got any pics?

Speaker stands are desk ones rather have them on the desk and have more desk space than stands next to the desk.

Very very old photo, I don't have it anymore and have since moved so I'm going to buy a new piece but I think with the work surface, the legs and a few hours of man grafting it cost me about £45? Gave me 3m of usable space, I can't see why more don't do it tbh.

When my new one goes in in my new place in a couple of weeks I'll post a picture.

That's ace liking the wall colours. That's cheap too I need to build my own desk is that one whole block of wood or strips of timber?

Hehe yeah I liked my old room, half green half blue :)

New room is going to be 1 grey feature wall with 3 green :D (greens my favourite colour btw :p)

You buy work surface in lengths, I bought one 3m length of it then with some help from Mums BF - fitted it - was the best desk I ever had, very very sturdy! :)

New one is going to be black to match the colour scheme of the room, be about £80.

But isn't his real wood? Most desks are cheap veneers that look good only for a short time.

Nope :)

It may also be worth checking out second hand places and places frequently kick out old stock.

Sounds horrible... but you can come accross some really nice stuff.

Back when I was a student, housemate got something from an IBM offload... was over 2m wide and i'd say (without measuring) a meter deep... proper, solid wood construction - would last for years in decent condition for... £10... yup, a tenner! Was massive and heavy and a nightmare to get back to the house, but a damn good desk.

Same here my room now is the exact same green in that picture but all walls. Ah right so I only need to buy one length cool. BnQ is quite far away and I don't have a car, is carrying them home walking okay or too heavy. Don't get a black desk I had one and if you have black electronics you feel like you're at a funeral.

Can't be bothered going second hand it's a pain trying to find brand new, your friend got lucky

Quality? Aesthetics?

For the price and space you've got it's a great deal... don't get me wrong and for what it is, it looks reasonable...

... but it would look horrible in my office :p

Quality and aesthetics...?

It's a desk, for a computer geek - 99% of the time unless I have an OCD moment it's covered in loads of random crap.

Even then it was hardly bad quality, did the job just fine for the 3 years I had it there, I brought it with me to my new place, the only reason I ditched it is because it won't match the colour of wood I'm having in the new room :p

Ha but they have desks and tabletops sections :P How long ago was this because they don't have a 1800mm

About a year and a half now... swear I saw exactly the same stuff when I was in Ikea last month looking for a new one, but wanted something different.

If you're looking on the website - they don't list all stock on there (no idea why)... you need to go in to the store to find quite a bit...

They had other "normal" complete desks over 160 wide, i'm sure of it... I nearly bought one, I only like 180+ myself...

Fair enough... like I said, brilliant for the price/function :)

Just some of us like things that look a bit prettier :p
