Not for some, i've only played like 22 hours or something i think, and i've unlocked the IRNV scope for just one weapon, and i do fine on the other classes without it.

That is kind of my point though, somebody starting tomorrow and maybe playing a few hours here and there will not have half the stuff other players have. Someone new to the game would start on a server and be killed by people running around with IRNV scopes and there is no point flying as you will be killed as soon as you take off. You don't even start with the defib for some bizarre reason ffs!

I have played roughly the same playtime and still don't have half the unlocks.

You'll always find that with games though, if you're not in there fairly fast there will always be players who are better equipped/know the maps better/have more practice, etc. I don't think the unlocks are so unbalanced that you'll be permanently down in the depths, it really doesn't take long to get the early unlocks and from there you're grand.

Oh i know that is just the way it is, it just strikes me as not a good way to do it. Everyone else seems to like it though for some reason. Personally i would much prefer it if EVERYTHING was available to every single player right from the start, and if you need to keep some things for unlocks to keep peoples attention, make them mainly cosmetic or balance them properly.:)

To be fair, sometimes the unlocks strike me as a way of training people. Why doesn't the assault start with the defibs? Well, get used to your assault rifle and medic pack first. Why doesn't the support start with C4? Learn how to use your LMG first. Why do you have to unlock flares for the jets? Learn to fly, then learn to defend. Why do you have to unlock the ground attack missiles after a while of playing the jet? Learn to use your flares, heatseekers and cannon for air-to-air first.

I know what you mean though, but I think it's pretty well balanced.

Now that patch is looking pretty damn tempting...

I have a couple of questions about using a mic on BF3 through "partying" up with someone. I'd really appreciate some help.

1. How do I set the mic to push-to-talk using one of the spare buttons on my mouse?
2. How can adjust the volume so that other player's voices are louder and the game sounds are quieter?

I've had a good look through the BF3 and Origin settings and I can't find the answer.

Thanks.

All of that is handled by battlelog, not BF3 itself.

1. Click the Comm Centre. In the bottom right it'll say "PTT key: XYZ Settings". Hit settings, and you can change it there.

2. The volume settings are in there too.
