That's right, after two weeks I've finally narrowed my problem down to the PSU not putting out a pwr_ok signal to my mobo. 0.06V is a long way short of 5V so it has to be that.

Now here's the question: my 700W modxstream was quite good value at 65 quid (or not after conking out less than 2yrs later) so do I:

A) send it off to the sodding Netherlands for an RMA and endure another couple of weeks, hoping I get a replacement but probably ending up with a repaired unit.

Or

B) do a, but buy a new psu now and sell the RMA unit. A modular 700W PSU costs a fair bit more now though, and I don't know what might come back in the post for me to sell from ocz.

Which do you go for? And if b, what PSU do I get to replace mine, keeping in mind I have a 2500k overclocked and plan on getting a 7xxx card next year and will also overclocked that. Budget, as always, is an issue so would only upgrade if it was worth it in the long term.

Thanks for replies, I'm excited about getting back to bf3 :)

Ah sound. So what are lepa like? I know corsair are great, but if lepa are equally reputable then the extra power can't be bad. Also, what is their RMA service like lol?

These are the only reviews,

No idea about RMA, but with Corsair and Antec and Bequiet its all based in Germany/Netherlands for sending.

Lol indeed Stulid :)

OCZ are good, almost as good a quality as corsair for far less money

That's what I thought, and if there was a similarly priced unit of similar spec I'd buy one still, but seeing as there isn't I may as well spend the extra and go corsair.

So lepa are a bit unknown and are a kind of enermax own brand. Hmmm, I may go the safe route.

the g series(gold rated and similar price to corsair) and n series(cheap not sure if chearful), the b series and w series aren't made by enermax.

the lepa g 700w was £100 but is upto £110 now, guess it was getting popular thus ocuk pushed up the price.

ps. guss you didn't like my suggestions then?

what is the rest of your system spec?
as I said you'll be fine with 650w unless you go xfire, even then a corsair or similar should be enough unless you go high oc on the graphics cards.

Sorry dude I missed your post (on my tiny phone screen, this is easily done). I certainly like the idea of spending a lot less. How do Antec stand up for reliability?

Full spec:
2500K 4.8GHz
4GB Geil
XFX 5850 @ 950/1200
many fans, led lighting and three HDDs

5yr warranty does sound good though, maybe worth the extra for the extra juice and some fall-back warranty.

Agh, I'm torn between the 650W Antec for £70, 3 yr warranty or
Corsair 750W for £100 with a 5yr warranty

Worth the extra £30? I could sell my RMA unit for £50 I reckon (maybe £40 if I'm unlucky and it's a repair unit) so The Corsair would at least mean I was upgrading as well as reducing downtime, whereas the Antec is the closest to cost-neutral, but is a small downgrade.

Whatever the concensus is, I order tonight.

I got a lepa B series 750W power supply put the system together and after 10 minutes and a boot into windows and then flashs and bangs from the case i quickly flicked the switch off and pulled the cable out. I dont know yet what else it took with it but i got a complete system from overclcokers together. What do i do now? how do i go about getting everything replaced and obviously getting a different power supply and NEVER going lepa again!!
definitely not the Lepa anyway lol

that was the lepa b, you should be ok with the lepa g as a number of people bought it going by 'spec me' threads and none so far have created threads like that one. also no list of what the rest of the pecs on his pc was, could just have been unlucky.

if you can afford the £30 extra then having the extra 'juice' and warranty is always good. I have the hx620 for past 3yrs and no issues thus far.

I've settled on the Corsair. A PSU is an investment, like a good case, that I intend to drive builds with in years to come, so I guess it makes sense not to cheap out.

Like new tyres on a car, you know you made the right choice when you buy them, but it's not the kind of spend that you get excited about lol.

Thanks again for the feedback all, as well as help in other threads helping me get to the bottom of it. Really appreciate it.

*skips off to order new PSU* :)
