The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Have you tried lowering windows sound quality one? Probably a long shot as clicking new game is further than people were getting where that was a problem.

Just so others can compare -
Everything maxed @ 1080p-

Exterior between 30-50fps.
Interior between 50-100+fps.

Vsync disabled as I get awful mouse lag otherwise. Unable to get the fov to stick, whether through console or .ini. I'm just stunned how well the e8400 and 4890hd can cope. Fully playable for me.

Stunning game.

Your maxing the game out with a 4890?

It auto detected the game for me at high settings. So I just left it. (1920x1200)

Oh and absolutley brilliant game. Easily better than the Witcher 2, which I thought was excellent.

Max it out, turn off your fps counter and just enjoy. Your card is better than mine and should be just fine barring unexplainable issues :)

My housemate is having GPU usage issues in this game, giving him wildly ranging FPS. His memory usage is around 500mb and GPU usage hovers between 47%-65%ish. Any ideas whats causing this?

Disable it in device manager?

Anyone thinking of getting this game - leave it until they patch it and take out some of the annoyances around menus, CTDs, quiet sound (fixed via config file editing, sort of) etc. Lots of daft little things which should never have gotten past games testers.

Disappointed to be honest, they seem to be relying on the mod community to fix their game on the PC.

This is amazing, played 10 hours so far and that was just trying to make it to the thieves guild. Needless to say I got distracted by some alluring dungeons, put two restless spirits to bed and got a pretty sick ghostly blade ;) Loving this so so so much

Sounds like you listed everyone elses problems just to have a moan.

Just bought this even though I really can't afford it. People have been telling me how good it is all day and I finally caved. Oh well if it keeps me as entertained as oblivion did then it'll be money well spent.

Just got a quick question as I haven't played these sort of games before, just a couple of times and that was years ago. With the spell book, it doesn't say how many points I have to spend? I was worried about going into wrong tree or spending points in wrong places and regretting it later, or do we get endless supply of points to spend throughout the game?

I'm thinking of going ranged with spells and bow, that might sound like strange combo but those are things I like so far. Probably less then 2 hours in.

Game is running sweet for me, dont have an amazing rig or anything, they've made a well optimized rig, got 50-60fps with HD5770, everything on high and ticked all the boxes.

I noticed the quiet sound!
