Evening chaps,

I've got a tough decision to make this week; iPhone 4S or Nokia Links 800?

Currently got an iPhone 3GS and I'm not sure if I should stay with iOS or go to WP7.

I tried WP7 before Mango and really liked it but I wasn't a fan of the handset (HD7), so went back to the iPhone.

Now the Nokia looks like a really good handset and everyone is talking about it and the 4S does look good but I'm getting slightly bored of iOS.

What's the Windows Marketplace like now? The apps are what I most about the iPhone especially the games!

The main benefit of the Nokia is it has no upfront cost compared to the £200 for the iPhone!

HELP ME!

It really depends on what Eco system you want and what you think you will want this time next year.

Personally I want windows Eco system and the much more freedom w8 tablets will give, as such I'm looking at getting a w7p, but won't be the 800, want to try a bigger screen and in no rush.

If you worry about apps it might be better sticking to iOS. WP7 is very decent indeed but sadly the Apple App Store has had quite a head start on the WP Marketplace and it shows.

Well, you're a bit bored of iOS, so why not try WP7?

It actually has quite a good selection of games, however, you have to pay for a lot of the decent ones and they aren't cheap.

Obviously this goes in favour of Windows Phone.

Don't you like Android? The Galaxy Nexus looks good (rubbish game selection compared to iOS though).

Oh and it's called Lumia, not links. Go on, blame your auto-correct. :p

It's worth noting that iOS is a significantly improved experience on the iPhone 4/4S over the 3GS as well.

Okay then, what do you mainly do on your phone?

If pictures and video are important, the iPhone 4S has the best (N8 etc. aside) 8MP camera around, same goes for it's 1080p HD recording.

Apps and games are all firmly in the iPhone 4S' favour too, as are the storage options if you need/want 64GB.

Software is all down to preference really, you might be a 'bit' bored of iOS but imagine it a lot faster, with better battery life (now the 5.0.1 update has fixed any issues) and Siri, and all the iCloud stuff, etc.

I think the Lumia is great however you're going to need to be ready to accept an inferior app store if you're going to enjoy it, even though Metro UI is rather excellent and I'm sure Microsoft will get all the 'big apps' on board pretty quickly now.

Just a heads up,, one ofd the big apps "missing" from WP, spotify, apparently landed a couple of days ago.

Don't really care about the video/camera, more intrested in the Apps, games mostly.

I do think the iPhone probably would be better, but it's £200 which I don't really have.

Have you thought about going the sim free options then getting something like giffgaff. Its the only way I would go with iPhones has networks just take the ****.

Also you can sell your 3gs to make up for some of the cost. If your after games then its really hard to recommend a windows phone right now, as much as I think windows phone is nice there really isnt much games, and the ones that are out I can see being really outclassed by the new wave of 3D games that should be coming out to take advantage of the A5 chip.

The 3GS is on loan from my dad so can't sell it.

I've had a look at the Windows Marketplace and do appear to have some decent games (though a little bit more expensive then Apple apps)

Yeah, I was quiet surprised by the amount of apps windows had but if you compare it to apple then its like day and night apart.

Yea, it's the only thing putting me off really (and the 16GB storage limit) not the Nokia is such a nice phone!

Managed to play around with it for a bit and it's so quick and easy to use.
