Hi,

First post, just looking for some advice on graphics cards. I am building a new PC purely to play Battlefield 3/skyrim.

Now I have the chance to get some GTX 460 1GB's very cheap. I will be gaming at 1920x1080.

Will a pair of GTX 460's in SLi be enough? I could buy 3 if it makes a difference?

Also what about for 2560x1440? (Just in case I decide to buy a bigger LCD :))

They will be paired with the usual i5 2500k and 8gb ram, will a coolermaster 750watt PSU be enough?

Thanks in advance.

You will probably need more than 1gb of video memory if you graduate to 1440p. For 1080p, two 460's should be fine.

Thanks, I have also just realised the GTX 460's do not support Tri SLi.

I can also get a GTX 560 Ti 2gb fairly cheap too, but in relation to the GTX 460 price it is far more. How much better would the Ti 2gb be?

Have a look at this comparison. The 560ti here is based on a 1gb model, so at 1080p a 2gb card won't make that much difference, though there will always be exceptions to the general rule. For higher resolutions like 1440, this is where extra vram comes into its own. As you can see, the difference between the two is certainly noticeable, though not massive.

Btw...I should add that AMD's 7000 series of gpu's will launch quite soon, sometime in December.
