So, my BOSE have broke and I want some replacements. On to the Senns ...

They all seem similar priced (except the cheaper HD555) and was just wondering what your thoughts are? which ones would you go for? I have always used "over the ear" headphones, but would be happy to try on the ear such as the 25's

Will be mainly used for listening to music and playing BF3 although I aren't too fussed for gaming sounds, will be connected to my Logitech Z5500 control pod, which is connected via Optical to my Creative X-FI card

Thanks
J

HD558 is a bit more 'moody' sounding than the HD555 according to some reviews. I was lucky to try sennheiser HD range at Currys and for me the HD558 definitely had a more pleasing tone for music. For BF3 it's hard to say. The game is good for sound and bass which the HD558 does deliver well to my ears, the only problem is the directional audio could be a bit better. I say a 'bit' better because it is very good anyway, but for mp it could do with a tweak - which might be achievable via EQ settings, I'm not sure.

HD555 will probably be fine for you though. I went for the HD558 because they were more pleasing to my ears and so I spent the extra for that. It's hard to say what the exact differences are unless you can try them.

I considered the AD700's but the weak bass put me off (still very good headphones though).

Edit: Also you can modify both HD555 and HD558 to 595 and 598, which is apparently very easy to do. Definitely get your money's worth with Sennheiser. :p

The 25's isolate very well which imo would be a bit useless if you aren't going to take them out. Plus the clamp quite tightly so if you wear glasses it'll be uncomfortable after a while.
