Hi got a Hoover washing machine.

Has always worked fine, but in the last week and last couple of washes. Clothes are not coming out dry. Still very wet. If I put it on a 'spin' cycle it wont spin.

If I empty some of the washing it will then spin normally. But I have to put about a quarter of the wet clothes in for this to work.

Any idea why it will not fast spin as normal, with full load?

Checked filter all clean, Do not know anything about washing machines so wondered if there was any one here with any knowledge.

I don't have any expertise here, but would like to theorise. Clearly something is affecting the maximum torque (turning force) capability of the spin cycle. As the motor is electric, you may have experienced an electric motor fault that effects maximum torque. I believe magnetism is involved in making electric motors turn, so it's something affecting that ability. You often hear washing machine brushes mentioned. I found the below. Warning: I have no qualifications, this is not professional advice, stay safe as electrical appliances can be dangerous!

Did you use a synthetic cycle? Or cotton?

What is the max. capacity of the washing machine? There is a chance you're overloading it.

Also check you haven't depressed a switch (that some washing machines have) from 1200RPM to 650RPM or similar.

Normal different cycles. I have not overloaded the machine. Been using the same machine with same amount of washing for a few years. No other buttons pushed in etc.

RPM on this machine is on a dial selector. Does not matter what speed I select it still does not play ball.

You would hear the belt turning if it was.

The OP's symptons match those of worn brushes. Eventually, as the brushes wear further, the drum won't rotate at all until the brushes have been replaced.
