Well, my fella had an amazing idea for us to go to Paris for valentines next year :) so we booked it and I'm very excited.

We want to be able to go out for a meal on valentines day but I imagine places will become booked up just as they do in England..

We are staying in Rue de Rome in Paris but obviously will we probably want to eat in the centre of Paris.

Has anyone here been to Paris and can you recommend somewhere nice?

Thanks

Em :)

Chartier - been there a few times and never had a bad meal. Very well priced too. Get there early to avoid a long queue.

I'm going to Paris with the OH for New Years Day, we are just pitching a tent and just looking around for a bite to eat.

I got to admit that if I fail to find somewhere decent to eat in Paris I'm might as well go and seek out a KFC.

Hmm I have been over there with the girlfriend a few times now and we went to a place on Champs-Elysées a few times . . . I can't remember the name of it though!

If you want somewhere in the centre of town Champs-Elysées is your best bet I think? :)

TripAdvisor is usually good for locating good places to eat.

I had some terrific food in an unpretentious place last time I was in Paris, near Pernerty, at Les Frangines:

That area has quite a few places around where you can grab a bottle of wine relax.

Might be nice to grab some sweet pastries/stuffed baguettes from any nice looking boulangerie/patisserie you spot and head to Jardin de Luxembourg. Even though it'll be cold, it might be nice to wrap up warm and sit in a nice setting, stuffing sugary goodness down your necks?

I can strongly recommend the Balthazar just down from the Arc de Triomphe. Went with my gf when we were in Paris it was AMAZING and quite well priced. It was recommended to us by the people in the Waldorf we were staying in up the road so it must be good. Also on the same road between there and the Arc is the most amazing patisserie I have ever seen in all my time in France.

Also had a great meal the time before that at Cafe du Cadran near L'Opera.
