As per the title really. They've run a key along the driver/rear off side door and also along the front wing. On the doors it's not gone through to the metal as far as I can see, but they've really ****ed up my wing and it's definitely in need of urgent attention to prevent corrosion.

What's the best thing to do in the short term to prevent this, for the next few days, until I can get to the scrappy to get a new wing (not paying to respray, the car is almost worthless)? Would vaseline stop the air/moisture getting to it? What about WD40 or waterproof grease?

Thoroughly ****** off about this :( What mindless actions :(

No, I think it happened when I was parked up at Donnington last night (20 miles from home) when we went to see the fire works. We were parked roadsite amongst hundreds, possibly thousands of other cars all doing the same.

If I knew who it was their car would be safe. I'd drag my key across their face, repeatedly.

Seriously, why do people do this? What must their thought process be when they wake up in the morning. ''Hmmm... I think I'll key some cars today'' ... the mind boggles. It's somewhat understandable if this was the result of some petty feud you had with someone, but just some mindless act from some random person is just ridiculous.

I quite agree.

No feud that I'm aware of, this just seems to be an impulsive mindless act.

One of the boss's friends has a gorgeous new M3 with the matt grey finish and someone keyed that last week, gotta put that one down to jealousy.

doesnt look like it has gone through to metal, could try a machine mop and some decent wax over it.

This. It's not happened to me yet... Only a matter of time

but yea it's annoying.

Have you ****ed anyone off recently. Any yobos. Go key their car.

Don't do this, it only ever leads to more violence. Did you actually realise that WWI started because someone retaliated against someone else who keyed their car?

Tsk tsk. ;)

I really think I have a sociopathic side because if I caught anyone, and I mean anyone - 7 year old kid or 70 year old granny - doing that I would have no hesitation in planting them deep in the woods sans oxygen.

I'm exactly the same, I am very very intolerant of crimes against the person/against people's property (some may already know this from other threads I've posted in).

As far as I'm concerned if you're prepared to do something like this unprovoked I don't see why society should bare the cost of rehabilitation, as I see it these people are of no use to society and should just be put down. Preferably as inhumanely as possible, I want them to know they're dead.

i must admit, i think this is the lowest of the LOW, keying someone's car is just HARSH! i feel for you man !

Nothing more pathetic than keying someone's car, had it done to mine twice. Type of people who if you caught doing it are too much of a coward to square upto you, and would sooner run away.

No its not acceptable.

If you've got a feud or problem with someone why don't you take it up with them in person and to their face.

There is no reason to key anyones car, its just a mindless cowardly act or just a sign of jealousy.

I doubt it's jealousy, it's not a porker - it's a beaten up 10 year old focus. Still, not the point though, it's not their car to key :(

Let's hope karma has a word with them!

He said "understandable", not "acceptable".
