Hey everyone, Quite simply does anyone have any experience with these? I'm due to upgrade my panther 25 contract and was wondering is it worth loosing 300mins and "unlimited" data where I get a strongly worded letter and throttled if I go over 750mb to gain 2 swapables and 1GB of data with a blessing to tether. From what I gather swapables get a separate 3GB data allowance per month or am I mistaken?

Thanks in advance!

They just enabled this for staff (will try not to be biased) so I'm enjoy Deezer as we speak. It's basically free mobile spotify and it's awesome, really loving it. Not sure if the rest do but Deezer certainly doesn't count against any limit from what I can tell (not checked documentation for a while) and when I asked CS they said it's not an issue to worry about.

Wish AC/DC would allow streaming though, AC/CD ain't the same.

thanks for the reply, Deezer was one I was interested in as well as maps, sky sports and TV.

My biggest concern is the 1GB data. Its low enough to force me into actively looking for wifi points (have unlimited openzone anyway but it's a hassle). I'm really tempted by three's unlimited data or even giff gaff and taking the hit upfront on a phone. Three works out the quite a good option if I go for the galaxy W but means selling my soul to the crapphonewhorehouse who have screwed me royally in the past and I was looking at the Atrix mainly for Tegra 2. Giff gaff is dependent on how much I can get a phone upfront for but ATM is working out slightly cheaper. The swapables are tempting enough to keep me with orange tho from talking to people instore it sounds like I'll be "starting" again rather than upgrading.

Maps - is not good, trust me. I was unfortunate to be on the beta for that joy of a product, never again.
TV - m.tvcatchup.com is what I use but I admit, you'd eat your allowance by using it.
Sky sports - this has some use if you like sports but it's not got the usability of deezer to me personally. If you live for football it's not bad.

Those handsets are firmly middle ground territory - you can probably get a more high end one going contract with cashback as long as you claim it for the money you're looking at (Thinking SGS2 from your picks, channel is flooded with them). With all upgrades I highly advise people to query the best deal from them, say "you'll think about it", hope onto topcashback/quidco and work out the best deal, call retentions back and say "meet this or I'm outta here".

Myshra do you know if Orange will be stocking the Galaxy Nexus on the 17th for upgrades?

And if not, when they will?

Sorry for taking this OT.

The launch dates are in a system CSRs use which I don't have access to sorry. I just get the crumbs of info (none on this handset sorry). We are launching the note though, that got added to the system last week (still the size of a housebrick though).

NP, still haven't fully decided on what phone to go for but like the atrix over the S-2 for 2 reasons,

1. Tegra
2. Webtop

No HDMI out and no frontfacing cam put me of the Lumia and just the price of the S-2 is putting me off it. Not willing to trade in my old phone simply because my GF will get it. [no sniggering!]

Maps should be available on android market alright so its not a major loss. TV catchup is good as well, but yea, its a serious data hog. With unlimited data on another network that won't be a problem.

Ill defo look up quidco, tho how willing are they to match it normally? Some of the offers on there are insane.

No one will match quidco in my experience as it's cashback and no-one likes giving away cold, hard cash :) It's often cheaper to cancel a contract and get a new contract via cashback but you'll have to deal with faffing about with your number a lot of the time. For the right deal though, it can save you a lot of money.

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting Orange Panther for the Sky Sports Swapable. I've read on a couple of other forums that it's really poor quality. I was hoping to connect my phone to my TV and watch it on there. What would you say the quality is like?

Thanks.

I've been watching sky sports and espn on my BB bold 9900 with swapables and its not bad on that screen. Nowhere as good quality picture as sky go on the iphone but definitely watchable , i've watched quite a lot of football.
As for watching on your TV, i'd say it would be pretty poor, but give it a try

Agree with Myshra, deezer is awesome, have 100+ albums now, all for free! (well almost, I guess my contract has swapables priced in)

Honestly, I'd pass unless this is your only real option (sure as hell shouldn't be Russell Grant's idiot stuff). I believe it's 3GPP encoded videos (depends on the handset maybe, I can't vouch for all) and they are pretty rough, nothing you'd scale upto on a tv I'm sorry to say :(.

How I'd suggest people weigh up swapables as worth it or not is compare along with all the other bonus' like Orange Wednesdays/Free Movies over iTunes etc... and then compare vs other operators. It's basically the same product as spotify mobile so if there was a worth to it, it would be on par with that but this assumes you would pay for this in the first place - if not then the worth of it is less. I appreciate I'm probably just banging the same drum a bit too much but Deezer is by a mile the best swapable if you like music as the others are basically replications of other apps you can already get - Deezer is a service instead.

Didn't want to start a new thread seeing as this one is already here but has anyone managed to set up swapables on a Galaxy Nexus?

I can only select from Games or Astrology but I want Deezer.

I can download deezer drom the market place but when I go inot Orange World I can't select it as a swappable as it doesn't show up.

Just tried registering through the app but it's throwing up an error.

Edit: The Orange account site seems to be playing up atm so that might be why I can't register. I'll check again later.

Still not working.

Hopefully it's just because my number was ported over earlier today. Just realised I can't receive calls or texts atm even though I can send them.

Yeah number porting breaks everything for a few hours usually - might be worth waiting for a few hours and then if there's no progress I'd suggest calling 150.

Ended up having to put my sim into my wife's iphone and setting up the swappables on that.

I don't think Orange World is set up to recognise the Nexus as a compatible handset. The site was rendered totally differently on my Nexus compared to the iphone. On the nexus it's formatted like on of the old wap sites.

this deezer thing on swappables.

I have the BB9900.

Do you keep the tracks or not? if you were to get rid of deezer etc. Are they actual MP3 files?

Haha, suffice to say no, you don't get to keep everything you download :) It's basically spotify mobile's model - you get the ability to stream (or local content download but it's encrypted so only their player will work with it).

Tried it last night and it seems really good.

Downloaded the new Kasabian album over my home wi-fi in about a minute and listened to it on the way to work this morning.

There's much more on it than I thought there would be.
