How much more than you earn in a year, do some footballers earn in a week, and what are your views on that?

Mostly yes they do. People pay to see these players play and they get their share from ticket sales and sponsorships etc.

You're worth what someone is willing to pay you. It would be hypocritical of me to criticise them because I'd happily accept ridiculous wages to play football for a living. I imagine most that criticise would also happily accept the money.
Top footballers play for top teams, they entertain people at the highest level, agree its a obscene amount but its the top end of entertainment, same with movie stars making $10 million for one movie.

Footballers are paid what they are worth, or they wouldn't get paid. Don't like it? Stop watching footballs.
They are at the the top of their profession as well as that they bring in the fans and the sponsors and without them the clubs couldn't survivie. Absolutely nothing wrong with their pay.
As for giving troops the same wage. Do you want your tax to go upto 100% of youre wage. Such statements are really quite silly. Troops do not bring in 100s of millions of pounds and aren't the top of their profession. It's the way the economy works.

Don't agree with this, every tom dick and harry would join the army if this was the case.
Yes footy players get paid a lot, but they have the skill to back it up. If anyone thinks they have the skill to reach this level of competitive football then go for it.

Football is a big business and they are employed at the top of their level, a bit like bankers that get paid hundreds of thousands. They are the best(believe it or not) at what they do and thats why they get paid so much. What comes with big business is big rewards.

Yes they are over paid, but its YOUR FAULT. You poor billions of pounds into the sport, where exactly do you think all that money is going to go? Poor families are forced to buy dodgy knock off england kit and they get arrested because the overpriced sweat shop stuff is so expensive? Give me a break.

Not all footballers earn the wages you are suggesting. They are top athletes in the peak of physical and mental condition. You don't get to that level accidentally.
It's exactly the same as a top brain surgeon would be paid mega money as well because their services are in demand.
I wish I could earn a lot of money doing something I loved and I was naturally good at.
