Okay, so I'm finally thinking of ordering my new build soon!

At the moment I currently have a white 600T, a 5870 and a OCZ ZX Series 850W PSU. Everything else is going to be bought here at OCuK, and I'd love opinion and advice on what I should change or what-not. The main thing I haven't read a ton into is which SSD's are best, or 1TB HDD's for that matter.

Here's what I've got in my basket atm:

I also plan to change the 2 stock fans on the H80 with the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850 RPM fans.

Thoughts? What should I change up etc? Regarding GPU - I'm waiting for GTX 600 series.

I think that cooler is a bit OTT, try the Antec 620:

Do you need a retail version of windows? OEM will be fine but is tied to the motherboard once installed.

This is a better SSD (Crucial M4):

Can use the money saved on the H80 for this.

not strictly true ;)

the 920(£65) version of the cooler maybe worth it but I'm guessing along with the ssd the op is trying to stick to corsair due to the case, also apperently the corsair ssd aren't too bad slightly faster also.

ram http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-299-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 would be cheaper but I guess you went for the colour right?

hard disk do you have old sata drive/s you could use so save money? if you still want a hard disk I'd say samsung spinpoint over the wd.

msi cashback offer

I would personally prefer the corsair cooler, so the H60 if i went cheaper. I can afford the extra for the H80 but if others think it really isn't worth it I'll definatly consider going down.

Well precisely the reason you said really, I'd like to always be able to use this windows 7 irrelevant of whether I upgrade anything in the future. Saying that though, with that mobo I can't see me needing a new one soon. May indeed get the OEM one.

Thanks for the heads up on the M4. Will i have to update it to get the better speeds then? Sure I can figure all that along the way though. I assume updating it won't mean I need to re-install windows?

My old build will be given to my dad, so I'm keeping the HDD with windows 7 on my PC for him :) He's gunna give me a couple hundred for it so the cost of the extra HDD isnt a problem really.

Is that motherboard better than the one I chose? I'm not a fan of the blue, and I was going for a black/white theme hence the white RAM (didn't mind paying the little extra). But obviously if it's a genuinly better choice for less then I'd seriously consider it!

can't tell you if the msi is better than the asrock

review of the msi http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/msi_z68a_gd65_g3_review,1.html

review of the asrock http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/asrock_z68_extreme4_gen3_review,1.html

but you may also want to check out the thread in the motherboard section.

the priice of the cpu and ssd goes up tomorrow so I suggest you at least get the cpu ordered tonight as that'll be a bigger 'hit'(£22) then the ssd(£4) when the deals change tomorrow. you get free shipping so don't need to worry about 2/more orders costing you more.

Thanks for the heads up! Ordered the CPU now, but will wait around on the SSD. What kind of things do I need to consider or do when installing windows and programs on an SSD, but having pretty much everything else on the second HDD?
