I quite agree, awful horrible car. But I'd rather have a car than walk/get public transport and my budget is very small. Throwaway motoring. As it happens, I'm not getting it anymore. Probably for the best.

Modern, good looking, good handling, comfy, reliable, frugal albeit slow (110 model aren't too bad).

Can't think of a much better all round car for a grand.

tbh I've had a 1.2 N reg corsa for 6-7 years now and it's been fine?
get good MPG and it's not needed much work on it (till this month when it's needed a bit of work)
not sure whats with all the corsa hate here?
