Hey all.
I have really been into computers for 10 years now and enjoy spending time on mine yet my PhD is at a computer all day in an office. A lot of you here (I hope) feel the same as me when I say that when I sit at a desk all day then come home to an online FPS leaves me just feeling tired and frustrated. I need to change something in my life.

I have a nice tele and a ps3. I can extend the PC to the TV and I have a 360 pad too.
Just wondered what you guys do in my position - could more sofa gaming be the answer?
I am crap at sport and am a university warden so clubs wouldn't work as I have night time on-call duties. I walk for 60 mins a day but do no additional exercise.

Electric guitar, digital piano or some other musical instrument (both of the previous you can use headphones with if noise late night is an issue for you). :)

You got a girlfriend? Get one. It's a good time filler for the time you have between work and computer games :).

Perhaps make an attempt to learn another language?

I'm in a similar position, I work full time (shift work) and have commitments in my spare time as well. I've recently "downloaded" a few language MP3's which I play in my car in order to help teach me. :)

If you're walking for 60+ mins a day download to your phone and play via earphones? I'm not saying this is specifically for you but it has helped me learn new skills - Mi español es mejorando poco a poco:)

movies and dvd boxsets - 24, the sopranos, walking dead, spartacus, the wire etc

Find watching good movies and tv shows (without the ads and waiting for next week) to be a great way to unwind.

weight lifting - its more than lifting weights , making half decent meals and decent rest is also part of it. in the gym you'll find people to talk to and i bet after seeing how good people can look you'll want to stick at it!
