I am considering getting this down for my new GTI, and just got quotes for 200gbp for the roof only.. 3500gbp for the whole car in "clear "protection" film, and 1500gbp for Matte White.. which seems expensive though so I probably wont bother at this stage, I would do the roof but apparently I need to get approval from the police first.. how ridiculous.
 
Eh? They're saying you need to get approval from the police for a white roof? That has to be complete and utter ***** surely? Did anyone car manufacturer who made just the roof white have to get approval!?
 
The car is white, I wanted a black roof.. Of course, if you change the colour of the whole car it needs to be registered with the RTA (DVLA equivalent), but I was told that as the roof alone is more than x% of the painted area that it also requires it... However I spoke to a friend who got it done elsewhere and they had no such requirement, so I'll shop around ;)
New cars here don't need an MOT for 3 years so I can not see it being an issue either way.

Purely for cosmetic reasons. White with a black roof looks good IMO.

I presume they sell mini's in the UAE ?

How do they get round it ? there are loads of minis with white roofs.
 
I saw a black 612 Scaglietti in Chichester A couple of weeks back. It was being utterly ragged away from some traffic lights, but TBH, it didn't really sound very special. Seemed rather quick though!
