Battlefield 3 tips & tricks

You are doing it wrong. ;)

My only tip is, turn off your CPU overclocks of you have them, especially AMD owners. Bizarre as it sounds, the game runs smoother and with a higher framerate when I go back to stock (3.4Ghz) from my 4Ghz oc.

And turning off Aero WORKS wonders. Best tip so far.

Is this true about overclocked CPU's?

Well it is for mine. The game lagged with the overclock, even though it is totally stable in Prime. The ingame monitor was showing massive CPU spikes which dissappeared when I put it back to stock. Has improved frame rates as well. In any case, the game is very much more GPU dependant so I don't think an overclocked CPU is of much, if any benefit at all.

I know others have noticed issued with OC'd GPU's as well which have gone when they are reverted to stock speeds. I never OC my GPU's so cannot comment on that though.

I have not seem many people do this :

On Kharg Island when you spawn as US grab the zodiac you can get to capture point A or C fast.

The best advice I have from my own experiences:

When in a tank if you have been sat in one place for a while and you suddenly take an rpg/shell hit, don't reverse as engis might have snuck a mine behind you.

When in an attack chopper I find pulling the nose back then turning to one side whilst pushing the nose back down gives excellent acceleration.

Low and fast is best when using an attack chopper, height seems best for scout/transport heli's.

Pull your pistol out instead of reloading, I've taken down groups of 3-4 people emptying a clip from my primary then pulling out my pistol and finishing the others.

When attempting to kill a couple of guys next to each other, knife the one standing up first. The one lying/crouching isn't able to move quickly enough and if they are recon, probably aren't even paying attention.

When respawning, pick the squad mate that is sat still, not the one halfway across the road as he is most likely to take fire and you'll die as the shooter targets you.

When playing as assault/support, when you spawn on your squadmates that are not running, as above, throw down health/ammo straight away incase they are short on one or the other.

When trying to climb over something, jumping early when running at it tends to minimize the fence-hurdle bug where you don't jump over.

My tip, don't be too concerned with stats, dont worry how many times you die (even the best die a lot, lol) please don't camp out you only really neeed to camp to regenerate your health (lol @ regen health) have fun, rush your objectives and stick it to the opfor :D

Your fun factor should be top priority, everything else fits into place.

Also about the sound settings, my best sound settings for directional awareness on the battlefield or in the battle zones was hi-fi with the extra surround setting turned off, i'm not 100% sure but the extra sound settings might tax your cpu/s?.

I agree with you here and i'd love to do as you suggest, but this game lends itself more to the camping RPG kiddies and air asset raping than BC2 ever did. So having 'fun' aint always possible.

This game has been out 2 weeks and i kept getting hammered by some nobhead who was level 44 ......seriously? already?! level 44????
What a sad loser! he must not have slept since release.

I knew 1 or 2 people that was level 40+ in the first 3 or 4 days. As sad as they are, you have to give it to them for being, well....sad ***** with no life :D

I understand your grievances with certain aspects of competitive multiplayer, but in all honesty the servers i have been on have been great, really good man, i don't really come across campers, some may sit it out for what ever reason but it don't bother me mate i'm far too busy blasting away at the opfor and having fun, i just gun for that flag/objective and die many times on the way, lol.

He/she is just probably having fun too, don't be concerned with their stats, it's difficult i understand but if you can ...take his/her dogtag lol "stick it to em" hahaha!, see if you can dictate the pace maybe?, it's hard work but it can work i think, i had some random camping in a certain spot but i kept on rushing his/her zone of comfort and eventually they had to move on lol, i died many times hahaha! :D, good fun for me, half the battle lost and won is at our end of the stick. It can be annoying though yep, but "f'@# em" hahaha! :D

happy days and all that soldier of fortunez

Don't forget that there has been a whole lot of stat exploiting going on, so it does not necessarily mean they have been playing 24/7.

tbh im getting fed up as i seem to be the only person that ever tries to get flags, we can be left with one flag and nobody pushes out and attacks other flags. they all just sit there racking up kills.
joined a game the other night, we had one flag i managed to get out and take 3 flags on my own and we managed to win the game.

A tip for those Rank Whiners.

Just because someone is Rank 45 now does not mean:

- They are sad
- Stat padded
- Cheated

I have 81 hours played and am Rank 45.75. I worked the first week of release and have not been employed since (Due to go away for 4 months) and have not played ANYWHERE near 24/7. That's 4 hours a day over 20 days averaged.

Some people are much much better at getting 'XP' than others and will be double the rank in the same time.

Levelling up is not linear either. Once you start getting into the low 30s and obtain medals you level much quicker. They are worth 10,000 a pop.
