Too much!!!

This, about 12K miles in a car that does anything from 18-28MPG and run it on 99RON whenever possible  Hopefully should come down next year, have moved closer to work, getting a bike on the cycle2work scheme, and going to try use the motorbike a bit more too.

Distance to work 10.50
Cost per mile £ 0.27
Cost per day £ 5.65
Cost per week £ 28.25

Total mileage 4,893.00 miles
Total cost £ 1,316.41

~£3200 pa at the current fuel price.

It's still worth it to avoid public transport and not have something that sounds like a taxi.

Out of interest, I compared it doing a train journey every day (as there's a station local to work), and even using the standard price for a return ticket, it'd save £200 a year. Would be cheaper using an annual pass too.

That depresses me :(

what price do you put on being able to come and go as you please, not sharing transport with stinky, noisy people and not waiting on cold, draughty platforms?

OK since I've had my car (mid June) until today, according to my Shell online account I have bought 830 litres in say 5 months, approx calculation using £1.38 per litre works to £1145.40.

Say I've bought another 300 litres (probably much more) at non Shell stations, at the same rate is £414.

So roughly £1.5k per 5 months works to £3,600 a year... very rough but good guess.

And that's just my car, I use my Dads everyday for work and back (110miles @ ~30mpg), but we split the cost of that diesel :)

Not a lot at all. Filled up with £80 since getting the bike on 17 of September. And most of that was a trip to Plymouth and a trip to Sheffield.
No commute, generally walk to the shops. So not used much and make it around ~45mpg at the moment.

Very little, Only did 3k miles in the car last year.

I'm lucky in that I have a works van which I get to use for my commute and company fills that.

I put on average about £45 per week in my car, so its roughly £2300 p/a.

Pretty depressing when I consider my car does not move from Monday Morning to Friday night!

My truck uses around £45,000 of fuel per annum - my employers have around 2500 trucks, I'm, glad I don't pay that fuel bill!!!

Edit: Thinking about it, it probably uses a lot more than that - I've put 700 litres in it already this week!

Probably be going for around £1500-£1800 region, I don't know and don't really want to know. I have to use it and enjoy doing it, so don't really think about it.
