This. But 4gb is usually enough. As long as you're using a 64bit OS that is.

8GB is so cheap these days (£40± a bit) that its becoming more and more common.

4GB is plenty for gaming and general PCing. I've not noticed much difference upgrading to 8GB, but as Stulid said, it is cheap atm.
