been suffering from random bsod since i upgraded my cpu motherboard and ram.

ive replaced the motherboard, and it still happened so a ran furmark and everything seems fine.

would this indicate dodgy memory as if there was a surely if there was a problem with the gpus or psu furmark would have set it off?

Run your 2500K at stock, maybe your OC isn't stable.

If no bsod, then that's the fault, if it still does it, then try one stick of ram, test then try the other stick.

unfortunately it does the same at stock speed and can happen with any game i try to play.

ive run 9 passes of memtest overnight and found nothing to indicate its the memory.

the bsod i get is a ati.sys diag bsod but cos i wa busy testing last night i haven't played a game for it to happen on.

ill post a full code if i canget it to do it again. but as i say it seems very random.

What voltage is the RAM running at?

What PSU are you using?

im running the ram at 1.5v. but as ive said it passed memtest overnight no problems.

my psu is a BFG 800w about 3 years old. surely tho if the psu was dropping supply then furmark would have shown this up?

Old one.

Memtest does not rule out memory & motherboard compatibility issues that can lead to CTD, Blue screen, driver has stopped responding from 3 to 8 times a day while gaming for 3 weeks to nail this one down.

OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 (OCZ3G1333LV4GK) (1333MHz)
Asus M4A79XTD Evo.
Passed memtest 12 hours, Passed Prime-95 8hours passed, Furmark passed, 3Dmark06 passed.
Changed the gfx card.
Drivers 10.4/ 10.5 hotfix/10.6.

Fire up WOW which is the only game the customer plays at the moment & instant multiple driver has stopped responding or sometimes hours or more would pass.

Put in some G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C8 & not had a single issue.

I've had 2 completely different motherboard tho. Last one was a msi gd65. Admittedly it doesn't appear to be as bad with my extreme 4 but it does still do it.

Are you using 1.5v on the memory, if yes try more:
Memory - Intel recommend 1.50v plus/minus 5% which means 1.60v is the ideal safe maximum, but we have found in our testing all 1.65v memory is fine.

If that doesn't solve the problem then your going to have to go through a process of elimination to find the fault.

Try 1 stick ram, swap it, 1 6950(with the other removed of course), swap it etc, running everything at stock.

I'll try putting 1.6v through it when I finish work and report back later.

Is it atikmpag.sys?

If so, I'm having the same issue.

I5 2500k
Gskill Ripjawxs @ 1600mhz
2x 6870s
XFX 750w modular PSU
Asrock Z68 extreme 4 (same as you)

Everything is running at stock speeds (I thought my OC was the cause of BSOD)

I can't believe I might of found somebody with the same issue.

Try running this program - WhoCrashed it reads those .dmp files for you and we can compare results.

Today's example

On Wed 16/11/2011 17:36:04 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\111611-22308-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: atikmpag.sys (atikmpag+0x78B8)
Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFFA800CD02010, 0xFFFFF880044078B8, 0x0, 0x2)
Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\atikmpag.sys
product: AMD driver
company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
description: AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmpag.sys (AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).
Google query: atikmpag.sys Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

i think so. im running the ram at 1.545 now as it was previously on auto. perhaps its stable during memtest but gaming it drops a wee bit too much.

will report back

Worth noting I'm using the latest 11.11 drivers + latest caps. Also, ULPS is disabled.

Also, the bios has been updated on the board.

Let me know how it goes, it's such a frustrating problem :(

just played bf3 sp and it was absolutey fine. ram set to 1.545 in bios.

unfortunately the bsod is random so will report back when it happens next.

I've upped mine to a similar voltage as well.

Something I did notice is that my RAM is rated at 2N command rate, the motherboard had defaulted it to 1N.

Not sure if it's the problem though, going to have a couple of hours of gaming and see what happens.

I'll report back as well, hopefully it's gone. I ran heaven for an hour or so while I was eating and it all seemed fine.

that was the wierd thing i could run heaven no probs just in games it would bsod.

if iinstall a driver over the top i dont even get a bsod. just a loss of display signal. only when its a fresh driver install after running driver cleaner do i get bsods

I've just played for a few hours, I've not had a problem yet. It is a random problem though, I've had it before when it's ran for hours and then other times it has gone off within an hour.

I'll keep you informed though but game time is over for me tonight :)

well aprt from the a freeze in skyrim ( which i think is the game) i had no problems.

i have a theory that the ram im using is rated at 1.35v and running it at auto just wasnt enough to make it stable. so manually setting 1.545 has helped.

i could be completely wrong but i haven't had a blue screen yet. :D

Good to hear.

I'll be gaming tonight again so I'll be sure to report back with my findings. I think if it plays for a few hours tonight then I'm going to say "Sorted!".

:)
