Hi

Whilst Skyrim is being played by many at the moment it might be worth noting that you can buy a copy of...

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® Game of the Year Edition Deluxe for £4.99

this one includes...

Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansions plus Fighter's Stronghold Expansion, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor and much more.

They are also selling the non deluxe version for £3.74.

Both the above packs are on sale until the 18th Nov.

I had already bought the std version many years ago but for a fiver I now own the deluxe pack, which I'm downloading at the moment.

The official forums are here...

...along with stacks of mods. There is also the Nexus site for mods as well...

...the above showing the top 100.

enjoy :)

EDIT: Sorry for posting this here as I've just seen the daily deals thread for PC games - doh..!

Probably good in it's own thread so more people see it :p think I posted about it in daily deals before it even showed up on hukd, seemed to just sneak up on everyone

I got this (deluxe edition) for £5 and it's refusing to run properly. It displays all the intro videos and stuff - then sometimes it will enter a loading screen, load fully and then, while still on that screen, freeze or it will just go straight to a black screen and freeze. I'm running Windows 7 with a Llano 3400M and 4GB of RAM. What do?

Edit: Apparently I had to disable the background music. How bizarre.

Thanks for posting. Never played the TES games and was hoping to find them on sale during the Christmas Steam sale but this gives me something to do until then!

Eugh, I don't think I could recommend Oblivion to anyone after playing Skyrim, every time I think of it I just go "Oh, they fixed THAT in Skyrim to" or "Skyrim has THIS, would have been nice in Oblivion".

I mean yeah Oblivion has a whole back catalogue of mods now but without them it's just a rather poor experience, riddled with bugs and terrible design decisions and bad execution, mods should enhance a game and give people choices, not be a requirement for it not to look like arse and break every 5 minutes.

It's also about as immersive as a paddling pool.

Is there a good all in one mod, like the Complete mod for Stalker? Just bought this but the mods are a bit daunting. Especially as having never played a game like this before, I dont really know what needs fixing.

I'd like it to look nice but keep the game as it was intended, like the Complete mod does with Stalker.

Seeing as I'm going to have to wait until Christmas to get my grubby little paws on Skyrim I installed Oblivion again yesterday. The last time I had it installed I got sidetracked by other stuff and didn't really get that far into it. However, I had a quick search and found this thread which looks to be a complete 'how to' guide for modding Oblivion.

At the moment I only have the DarNified UI mod installed, but no doubt that will change in the coming days.

I have no luck with mods. I always follow the readme for the mod exactly and it never seems to work. I have to save in fallout every few mins as it crashes all the time and that was just installing 2 gfx mods that are supposed to work together.

I think I'll have a look around for a single mod that self installs or just play vanilla.

So would you say (for someone who doesn't really play RPGs) that there is no point playing this if I haven't already, and just go straight for Skyrim?

Considering that I bought the deluxe version, which comes with all the addons, I then installed...

The Oblivion Mod Manager...

The Unofficial Patch...

A start saved game at the sewer exit...

...any other mod is kinda subjective but the ones above seem to do a lot of fixing.

Then I added this for the UI...

(something which Skyrim desperately needs)

I caved in and just bought Skyrim :D. Got it for £29 from OcUK, so even with the £5 for Oblivion deluxe, it's still cheaper than Skyrim from steam and I'll have the box and map etc.

Think i'll leave Oblivion for now. Seems way too complicated with all the mods you have to do. Although the 1.3 overhaul mod looks promising.
