How much do YOU spend on fuel / year?

I don't see what Mark's problem is with fox, I can easily achieve high 30's with my older,auto,528i on a long motorway run, I recently got an overall figure of 33MPG on a trip from Stoke to Taunton, running around Taunton for a few days and then a steady drive back up to Stoke.

I had a boot full of luggage plus my daughter as a passenger, I'm sure had I set my cruise to 70 instead of 75 it would have done even better!

I'm getting bored of Mark's constant trolling on the subject - I suggest he doesn't post again about it - if he does someone please RTM it (in case I miss it) so I can deal with it.

For what it's worth, coming back from our head office means going through the 50 limit on the M25. My M3 records a steady 33Mpg through that section - not bad for a V8.

Putting these figures together has made my free fuel contract even more attractive

About £50 a month

I pushbike to work.. Be damned if I'm going to pay the government tax on fuel getting to work to earn what they are going to tax me on anyway.

Talk about a double whammy.

( does that make sense ?)

So you think what then - that I made it all up? That I really got 33mpg and decided to pretend on the internetz that I got more?

Why do you bring this up on a monthly basis anyway? It's really quite bizarre. Nobody else seems to care as much as you do. We are only discussing this now because somebody else with a different car said they got 24mpg over a complete cross-section of driving over the space of 20,000 miles. Bizarre much?

FWIW in my 335i i got 36.6mpg back from picking it up. This was without me even driving as economically as i could AND unbeknown to me at the time but the tyres all round were between 5-10psi down all round!

I also got 36mpg in my 330i when i drove to Stratford-Upon-Avon a couple of months ago.

At the moment i spend between £2500-3000 a year on fuel.

At the moment I spend about £60 every 9 days so that's £2400 ish... wow its a big number when you work it out like that :S

That's almost the exact same as me.
I drive like a saint now, never hit 70mph. Do 70miles a day

I really want a new car but with these prices I cannot afford to

£9710.63 in 3 years 6 months so about £231.20 per month
80,500 miles driven so 12p per mile fuel cost
average say 10 miles per litre at 120p or 45.5 miles per gallon.

Honda Civic 2.2 Diesel

Hi, used to be about £480 a year, although that might go up now I've got a petrol engine instead of my frugal diesel.
Chris

And another 350 odd litres tonight! - running loaded from Carlisle to Glasgow & back to Stoke may have had something to do with it.....

Last year I put £2197 into the motor to cover 11,200 miles.

My commute alone is a fair bit more than that per year now let alone personal and budiness use so I'm getting ready for the sting. Considered all sorts including swapping my car for one of those 60mpg+ diesel superminis but decided to wait it out for a year instead.

Punto took £1014 so over £3k in total, ouch

193 litres last night.

Peterborough to Taunton & return. It's usually 220 but I couldn't be bothered with the thrash thrash around the back of Coventry and down the A46, so I just stayed on the M5>M42>M6 (A14)

It only saves 6 minutes going via A46 anyway... 6 mins over 3 hours 50 mins drive... Whoopie doo

With the RX8 i was spending about £75 a week, so about £3900 a year.
Now with the 1.4 focus its about £60 a month so about £720 a year.
Soon to be a 2 litre focus.

Around £150 per month, so £1800 per year. Though with car user allowance through work and work mileage rates, working back off the last 12 wage slips i've had £2700 back, so the extra has paid for new tyres and insurance and covered my personal mileage also! :D

Cost neutral motoring for Kef!!
