*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Assuming the amount of early access is based on when you preordered (as we are led to believe)

There is 5 months between preorders being available (properly) and the release date, its fairly logical that the number of days you get will be based on the month you preorder (first month gets all 5 days, people ordering now get 1 or 2 at most etc)

Just a guess i've seen mentioned in a few places that seems quite sensible

Dont know if this has been posted before but i found this on another forum, So thought i would post it up here.

Some info on world pvp.

Ilum is a level 50 end-game zone

About half of the planet’s size is used for the world PvP objective, and it’s a large planet

There are 5 control points in the zone: a Republic and Empire base at the north and south, as well as 3 central resources

All 5 points must be under control simultaneously for victory

Certain control points engage/deploy walkers that can and need to be
take down by special shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, and perhaps
other means. It takes a good 10 seconds to fire one of these rockets

Victory conditions award a buff that can stack, which awards extra
Valor points (earned during other forms of PvP such as Warzones)

This buff is faction-wide

The status is persistent, no timers for the game to artificially start or “reset” – it’s always on

There are rare crafting resources available throughout the zone

Zone can hold hundreds of players

Design accounts for population differences

Operation (raid) group size is 24 players. (Note: PvE Operation instanced content is designed for 8 or 16, but the group itself can have 24 people in it.)

Sounds interesting, I know that world pvp will never really work properly with 2 factions, But atleast they look like they are atleast putting some effort into world pvp.

The character customisation is pretty sub-standard, considerably worse than the newer range of MMO's.

Never really understood this that much, but why does it matter?

Most of the time people care very little about character customisation, i mean WoW had like 8 options in Vanilla and yet they have millions of subs.

Maybe i'm missing the point.:confused:

scaring? I'm not 10 mate. I'm here to help, advise, talk, discuss and have a laugh with everybody. Why must I mislead somebody by telling them porkies

Sorry I didn't mean to offend :o. Just there has been no official announcement on the extent of the staggered early access. I just can't see Bioware staggering the full 5 days because I'm sure that would annoy a lot of people who wouldn't have preordered had they known. I for one am in two minds whether to preorder or not until I know i'm at least going to get 48 hours. Hopefully they'll make a statement soon so people know where they stand.

When a good character customisation is given even people who don't usually bother much with that aspect can surprise themselves and spend ours on it. Really, just because WOW doesn't have something doesn't mean other games shouldn't, if that were the case we wouldn't be getting lightsabers.

It doesnt bother me that much, but I can understand why people do like a big range of char customization. Making your char as unique as possible. But to be fair, ive seen vids of it...it looks alright to be fair, wow's seem worse

When does Early Game Access begin?
Early Game Access may be up to five days prior to the official release of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The length of your Early Game Access period will vary depending on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order code, as well as where you live and your Internet service.

Interesting, hadn't noticed that before...

I think this is for people who live outside the launch countries. Australia, New Zealand , South Africa the Far East etc

They have already said this no matter how much you prefer to ignore it, it will be a 5 day early start staggered and I'm guessing it will be a day a month.
Go find the correct post and you can read it for yourself and no I'm not pointing it out for you.

And why should it annoy people everyone had the same chance to get it early, but they did not, now all the wanna do is cry about it.
Can you imagine if you only got 1 days head start.

I'd be a bit ****ed tbh

Tough the people whio end up with a one day have start have only themselves to blame ..

Ill be pre-ordering (will try the jersey boys I think) but couldnt care less about early start, Ill be working around that time and the servers will be rammed anyway.

I still think people who pre-order will get in early, may very well still be 3 days. Tho I would not buy it from those guys there delivery has gotten sooo poor now.

Well we agree then :)

I just don't think people should be saying there's no point pre ordering now because they WILL only get 1 day and possibly none at all.

No we not because there is also just as much chance you will not get at all. and no one said don't pre-order all they said is you may very well not get into early start.
