Anyone have a guess as to why my system keeps experiencing 0x116 BSOD's? Happens only in games, all games .

Will post any info you might need on request.

System Specs:

Mainboard: P55-GD80
CPU: Core i5
Memory: Corsair 8GB (kit)
PSU: Corsair 950Watt
Hard Drives: 3x 1TB, 2x 2TB, 2x 40GB Corsair F40 SSD
GPU: Dual Radeon 5970 (XFire)
Drivers: All latest

@wedgie

I like having this kind of spare horse power, much better than messing around finding the highest settings I can run a game at when I can simply just slam everything onto max.

If they had a good resell value I would pass them on and go for dual 6990's, or maybe even wait for the 7k series as I currently plan.

Honestly, I'd ditch one of the cards. I had no end of problems trying to run dual 5970's, including blue screens.

They often go weeks with no problems, then all of a sudden it just goes down the ******* and will BSOD every few min.

Like I started playing Fallout:NV yesterday, went for 5 hours no problems, then all of a sudden BSOD again and again. Today it's quite patchy, can go for an hour or two, hit a run of BSOD's, then another hour, and BSOD's again.

Makes no sense to me other than a random driver issue, but I've tried everything from 10.9 through the latest.

Not sure what to suggest then, I wish my problems were restricted to BSOD. As it happened, for every one game that gained extra (but ultimately wasted) performance, there were five others that it crippled performance for.

Although with this being your only issue, it probably is worth trying to find a solution if you like having the extra horsepower.

Are the Cards overclocked? If so try running them at default for a while and see if it still does it. Ive had this problem before, I dont think its anything to do with your power supply.

Run the whole setup at stock if it was overclocked and see what happens.

I have never been happier than with my 2 5970 4GB Toxics.

Everything is at stock speeds, I completed flattened my system a week ago and started from scratch, still get the exact same BSOD.

And yer, mining has lost it's attractiveness around the UK with the 30% increase in fuel costs.

CCC 11.11 and CAP 11.11 fixed most of my issues. Only problem I have now is that the FPS can be eratic: Usually hovers around 100fps (BF3: All settings maxed, res: 2560*1440), then will randomly drop to 8fps, and slowly climb back.

Never had that in BF3, but make sure they are not overheating and throttling down.

Something to look into. I'll leave overdrive on another monitor and see whats the shizzle. :D

Use after burner OSD and see if they hit the 90c because mine sometimes do in BF3 and i have the side off with a desk fan blowing on them and they have probably the best cooler going on them and they still sometimes overheat & only BF3 gets them that hot, they will be going under water when i can be bothered.

CCC does not show you the temps of all 4 GPUs at once unlike After burner.

Used afterburner, couldn't get the OSD to work but putting the graphs on a different screen worked just as well.

At Auto settings cards where reaching 85c, so I thought I'd ramp the fans to 50%. This dropped max temps in game to 52/53c. Lagging did not stop.

The only way I have found to stop the lag is dropping resolution to 1920*1080, dropping all anti-aliasing and HBAO. Still not perfect, and the fps avg has dropped from 100 to 50, but the fps drops have ceased which makes the game at least playable. Maybe the 11.12 drivers and CAP will solve a few more issues.

50% is less than auto.

Blue highlight each one at a time that you want OSD for an tick the OSD in yellow for each one as well.
