Orange San francisco 2 coming soon!

Seems I was a little too early for this having just upgraded to a basic smart phone 2 weeks ago but at least it explains why Orange weren't able to do a deal including the original one!

wuut? in that time only that much of an "improvement"? milking it big time. only those that never read specs will buy it.. and SF was selling like a hot cake because it was good an OK specced phone for the price at the time it was released.. 2011 and you get 800mhz cpu.. lol.

iphone 3gs rival alert? anyone can compete with a 2 year old phone, surely?

Competing with the phone has never been the issue. Competing with the Eco system and to a lesser extent the software has been.

Nice littel boost with same price tag. Will do what the original sf did. Why do other companies try selling phones at the under £200 mark and why do people by them instead of this.

I see no reason to upgrade from my original san fra, would rather the monte carlo

the camera on the san francisco is a joke for a start, it's so bad its not even worth using, then add in the fact most san fran's sold were tft, this is AMOLED.

they are 2 very important reasons to upgrade imo, as well as several others.

also Xperia Play > Monte Carlo (same price bracket).

You are comparing a £100 & £150 phone which isn't really in the same price bracket when looking for a cheap phone.

huh?

he said he saw no point in the SF2, he would rather get a monte carlo.

SF2 = £100
Monte Carlo = £150

now i said there was many reasons why to get a SF2 from a SF1. i also stated that Xperia play (£150) was better than the MC in the same price bracket.

SF2 > SF1 (£100)
Xperia Play > MC (£150)

maybe you should read both posts fully again.

Completely pointless phone, not worth upgrading from original OSF.

Not even worthy of a thread to be honest!

While I agree its not enough of an improvement to be worth an upgrade from the original San Fran for most people, its still an improvement over the original and will be one of the best value Android phones for anyone on a budget of 100 pounds.

I disagree about it not being worthy of a thread though. The thread is to inform people theres a new version out, and people can then make up their own mind about it. As you can already see there are differences of oppinion about the phone already on here!

Cheers

I can't seem to find the Xperia for £150, it seems to be closer to £200 in many shops, not counting the mini version.
But you can get the MC from Orange themselves for £119.99 + £10 top up...

http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/orange-monte-carlo

...so £130 seems to be the price for the MC.

A video of the SF II can be seen here...

http://www.eurodroid.com/2011/11/17/video-orange-san-francisco-ii-confirmed-99-plus-10-credit/

...with confirmation of pricing etc.

FWIW - there is a detailed thread up at Modaco on unlocking the MC, early indications suggests that it works - albeit a little convoluted.
